Under new ownership and management, this place is like a whole new bar with a HUGE breath of life blown into it's whole atmosphere!!! I've gotta say that I really miss Lyle and the old Gringo's (any locals will know what I'm talking about, and I'm sure will feel the same :-( ) but the changes that the Bars new owner has made would have done the old odd couple some real good. First they have made the middle bar that's connected to "Oliver's" (that's what the middle/upstairs bar is actually called but no 9ne calls it that lol) is now a live music stage and venue!!! And it's extra cozy for an intimate showcase no matter who is playing that night, and if it's game night or day than that's where the big screen is at, GO VIKINGS!!!!! No worries this ain't a sports bar BUT it sure ain't no Packers bar either!!! 9h there is still tons of fun for all you foosball players and LOTS of pinball for everyone, I think they even rotate their machines! The Food 8s great, with new items on the menu and the kitchen is open and serving food till 1am (bars open till 2am of course) the crowd seems to have shifted a bit to a little bit more modern from what I've seen lately and that is a good thing and I love the guy walking around with the awesome Chihuahua (don't worry it's a real Service Dog) oh yeah that's me lol :-) the drinks are always good and the crowd is as friendly as you'll get in Uptown Minneapolis without running into an even amount of Douchebaggins that you can't avoid at most places in this area of town as of recent, so Kudos to everyone at Mortimers for keeping this Uptown neighborhood staple alive and full of new fun!!! Check out their live music schedule, awesome happy hour prices, friendly staff, and great food today!! Read morePeople are lovely, food is not, and it’s dark and sad inside - I would not come back. I came because I arrived for a 2pm meeting at noon, the original time. I needed somewhere to go to wait it out! Popped in here based on reviews and pictures. Bartender was a friendly guy and I asked for the brunch menu. Moved to a table once I got my food. Got the chicken and waffles. HORRIBLE DECISION. My food came out what I assume was right away, but my waffle wasn’t warm. Not even warm enough for butter which I didn’t really get to use. Chicken wasn’t much warmer. The syrup didn’t taste like maple or sweet - it was bitter and black. I got a bit of the bourbon and lots of burnt bacon. I asked for regular syrup from my very kind waitress. Almost done when I took these pictures, but I now have a headache and a bit of a turning stomach so I won’t finish. Very disappointing for $14. Hate to waste food so I didn’t send it back, but now I’m not finishing it either. Real waste. Would not recommend, but thank you to the kind wait staff 🤷🏾♀️
My kind waitress disappeared maybe 20-30 minutes ago after checking in once and I haven’t seen her even wandering. Now waiting to get my bill which is also annoying. Had to ask the guy at the bar and he’s sending her out now. Definitely want to leave...
Read moreOmg we had a great time here. I think our waitress name was Taylor. She had fair skin and long straight brown hair, very pretty and great service!!! We ordered a burger with cheddar, onions, tater tots. My boyfriend got a local IPA that he liked a lot called Lizard King recommended by Taylor and I had a hot totty that was on the holiday menu. Then these 2 fantastic ladies with xmas onesies were handing out out free jello shots. One of them later gave us a totally delicious hot chocolate alcoholic shot which I later found out was another holiday drink with Mexican chocolate Kahlua so I ordered a bigger drink like it.
We came for karaoke and it was autotune. The KJ was so nice I forgot his name. He has long beautiful brown locks like Kenny G and hes white, very very sweet and nice. We both wished the autotune was adjustable but it was a great fun time nonetheless.
And our waitress sang Come Together so good, very impressive. Glad we went there after seeing the Timberwolves play at the Target Center. It was a mile away,...
