I have fond memories of this place over the past 15 years and after a memory popped up on Facebook with a picture of my go-to item (the talking oreo) I decided to head over after dinner for some dessert. When we arrived there was a line but nothing crazy, what stuck out the most was the ridiculously loud music that made it difficult for customers to place their orders. I watched people ahead of me craning their necks and leaning over the counter to be heard.
There were 5 girls working; 2 of them scooping and 3 hovering over 1 register. The two girls scooping were more focused on putting on a show for each other, singing to Disney songs than they were serving customers. We felt more like an inconvenience than guests since they were laughing and joking with each other but acting bland and straight faced with us.
The portion size for the talking oreo seemed like half the size or smaller than it was years ago but priced the same if not higher. In the picture I had of it from years ago, it was served in a larger cup, not the smallest size, and I remember it had lots of hot fudge inside surrounding a good portion of icecream with crushed oreos. On this visit there was MAYBE a teaspoon of hot fudge in the small cup around the small scoop of ice cream that didn't even fill the cup but it was loaded up with whipped cream.
I was extremely disappointed, it was a huge rip off for 8 dollars and I immediately regretted my decision trying to relive my previous experience. We will definitely not be...
Read moreYawn oh right, ice cream. Sorry, but Sebastian Joe's just doesn't hit it as anything spectacular. This time I couldn't even get impressed enough to ask for a sample of any flavor. My daughter's choice, while "good" flavored, was still underwhelming as the promised things in the ice cream were so tiny that she couldn't distinguish anything that was promised to be in it. That's how I feel about it - I want chunks in my ice cream and they need to be big enough to chew or why bother. SJs just doesn't ever seem to do this in their flavor choices. If I want just plain ice cream it will be with food - like vanilla with apple pie. I wouldn't go out of my way to get this ice cream, imho. My daughter kinda said she might, but probably not when there are so many other choices for better ice cream and flavors. My husband and I shared an ice cream sandwich - oreo ice cream between 2 chocolate chip cookies. Enjoyable but mostly because I really liked the basically frozen cookie. Nice place, nice employees,...
Read moreThis place was amazing. Some of the best cookies n cream ice cream I've had in my life (Oreo is the flavor name); I think they blend Oreos into the actual ice cream, in addition to crumbling and folding them in. There were a TON of cool flavor combos to choose from. I highly recommend looking them up in advance before coming in and having a list of what you'd like to sample ready.
When we got there, there were 30 or so people waiting in line (for good reason). The staff is good at ensuring people are coming through the line at a decent pace.
Bathrooms are for paying customers only; you must ask the staff for the door code.
They sell take-home pints and Oreo ice cream sandwiches (chocolate chip cookies for the outsides).
We ordered a macchiato and didn't realize until we left that we had received just a cup with some Espresso in it, which was the only downside to our visit. But we think the employee might've been newer.
Will definitely be...
