I've been going to the different spyhouse locations for a number of years and usually end up purchasing spyhouse coffee 2-3/week. I stopped in this location to work on a Sunday.
First of all, there is only one outlet available and it happens to be by the "standing only" table. There is no indicator that the table is "standing only" so naturally, we pulled up stools because we wanted to work and that was the only outlet available to charge our computers. While starting to set-up, an employee came up to us to us and said "I need to take your stool, this is a standing table only". I then asked why because that is the only place where an outlet is available. She just proceeded to take away our stools without giving adequate reason as to why we were prohibited to sit at the standing table.
The staff were condescending. Maybe if you don't want people to try to sit at the table with the only outlet in the place you should a. Think about installing additional outlets and b. Maybe put a sign on the table denoting it is not available for sitting, so you can avoid awkward interactions and alienating your customers.
We left before we had the chance to purchase a coffee. This place is pretentious and it is just a coffee shop. There's enough in the area to choose from for a more comfortable experience with adequate outlets. I don't...
Read moreA friend and I went at 3:30 on a Wednesday and easily had seats - there were only four other people there. It's a nice atmosphere to study in and has a ton of seats facing the windows which is nice. As for the drinks....both my friend and I commented that they were stronger than what we are used to or prefer. I had the matcha latte with lavender syrup and was taken aback by how potent it was. I'm a huge matcha fanatic, but sadly this latte tasted like I was drinking straight powder. I'm just not a fan of it quite that strong. My friend ordered a honey lavender latte and ended up bringing the rest home to dilute the next morning. I guess I have mixed thoughts on Spyhouse. Maybe we just chose our drinks poorly and a different option would better suit us. I will be trying out other locations to see the different atmospheres and maybe try my shot at finding a drink I enjoy more than the...
Read moreIt's craft coffee. The service is friendly, and they care a lot about coffee. If you come in here with 9 coffee orders from an executive team meeting that is used to ordering from Starbucks, they might not be super happy. But they shouldn't be. And you shouldn't come in here for that.
Five stars bc I've had coffee from all over (like craft beer, it's not hard to find something that resembles something you like in virtually any city) but these guys execute on espresso drinks like nobody's business, their pourover game is also on point, and perhaps most impressively--their Kenya drip is buttery and complex. I get to MPLS on business travel, which I'm on right now, but I took a bus out here to get the coffee.
Highly competitive and serious roasting. Learn a bunch about coffee, then come here,...
