You gotta try this place at least once! Especially if ya like or love seeing historic pictures of the old version of Minot.
I walked in because I been debating on coming here for a while. Just not normally a morning guy. But if I lived downtown, I defintely make this a regular routine place to visit.
Super spacious inside, the music threw me back, if you like razzmatazz, it a pretty chill joint. I can see the nice lady in the back prepping, chopping the ingredients. So they are fresh and natural. It a small family owned business and looks like they prefer quality over quantity. However they can meet high demand tables it seems maybe up to one party of 20 at one time.
Didn't know what to order yet but the waitress asked if I would like coffee, but I wasnt feeling coffee, so I ask for apple juice. Didnt disappoint on the size of it! About as big as my spoon! So will try the coffee next time, they have a variety of drinks.
I wanted to try the hot beef...but I ordered "The Tiffany" with corn beef with everything, scrambled eggs Rye bread. Waitress did follow up and ask of I wanted sauce so I requested salsa.
It was hot, freshly made and I have no complaints on the food. I would say if your hungry hungry, you may need two entrees haha. It is underseasoned to probably American taste buds, but I like the subtle but all natural ingredients and the flavors. No extra pepper or salt needed for me.
I will have to come back for brunch/lunch at a later point. Be advised: They dont accept AMEX, but dont let that stop you...

I absolutely love having breakfast at Charlie's Main St Cafe. Everything from the food, service, atmosphere, music is exceptional and they consistently hit it out of the park. I have tried almost everything on the menu and they continue to impress me every time!!
First, this restaurant is located on Main St. in Downtown Minot. There are plenty of street parking right outside of the restaurant, which is really convenient because it can get a bit crowded. As soon as you walk through the restaurant doors, someone is always there to greet you and sit you right away.
I would describe the menu as "Traditional American Breakfast with a modern twist." If I had to choose, my favorite would be the classic #1, B&G and the Tiffany scramble. Also, loving the new additions to the lunch menu, like their sweet potato fries and veggie burger, which are both to DIE FOR!!
As i mentioned, this place can get really crowded during peak lunch times and weekends (locals know the best breakfast in town), but the Charlie's team is super efficient and quick to provide excellent customer service to everyone. The wait is never long and the food always comes out the same amazing quality...everytime!!
If you are ever in Minot, I would highly recommend Charlie's for your breakfast needs. Trust me, you won't be...
Read moreThe interior displays North Dakotah history. Black and white photos of time gone by adorn the walls. Historic buildings that may or may not be standing now, former floods, group photos of original homesteaders, the introduction of the wireless, etc. The wood laminate floors reflect the foot traffic over the years. They add to the vintage charm.
The cafe tables are devoid of tech kiosks flooding the environs of upsell adds or games. There is actually room for your drinks and plates! I hope it stays this way.
According to USA Today (circa unknown) Charlie's has the Best Hot Beef in North Dakota. Great! It is one of my staple menu items. Of course that's what I ordered.
I have to say, if I could have my beef turn out 1/2 as tender, I'd make it at home more often. But such is not the case. The smooth gravy yelled "BEEF! It's whats for breakfast, lunch AND dinner!!", in my mouth. Soooo darn good!!
The next time you find yourself in Minot, ND, head over to the historic downtown. You'll find Charlie's. Ask about their pie. They might have some. You should ask if they have any lefse. They won't but you...
