Ah. It's a sad day for me to write this. I've been going here over the past couple years since I found they existed. Love their wings. After the experience my daughter had eating here. No more.
She goes in with her boyfriend to have dinner and was planning to have 5 wings and a couple sides. Her server tells her they only serve their wings in 10 wings an order, but TELLS HER SHE CAN ORDER THE KIDS MENU VERSION IF SHE WANTS 5. That's all caps because it's the issue here. She's very clearly not 12 years or younger, which their kids menu mentions. So why offer her to order this if it would be a problem later.
What's the problem you may ask? The kids menu is the main(wings) in this case, a side, a treat, and a drink. That's all included in a kids menu order. She was never told that any part of the order would be an extra cost if she ordered that, and when my daughter made her kids menu order to the server(which she once again was NOT told she couldn't do) she specifically said 'since it's included I'll have a coke no ice', and server didn't correct her there that she can't have the drink as part of the kids menu order.
She gets the check and is charged for the drink. They ask the server why they were charged for the drink and somehow it's magically not allowed because the kids menu is only for 12 and younger...which you allowed her to order regardless. When they point that out to the server the server cops an attitude and storms off to take it off their check. Queue the server and other waitstaff making loud rude comments that they can hear about them, then the manager comes over to complete the void mumbling "if you can't read, you can't read".
No Dunwellz, if you don't allow people to order something because of age...you don't allow it period. If you do, you give them what's on your menu and apologize for messing that up when your own waitstaff don't do their job properly. So thanks for the memories, but there's other places that can do hospitality better...
Read moreFood is always amazing but the service is lacking and the atmosphere is abysmal. Last 3 times we came here was to watch a game because its a sports bar and, well we liked the food, but we haven’t been able to watch any of the games despite them being huge games. One was a World Series game, owner didnt have the channel. One was a Panther’s game, still didnt have it. Last night was the NC State game, March Madness, huge game on regular cable so I know they have it and even saw it play on a smaller TV across the restaurant before the owner quickly changed it. I could see 10 different TVs from my table and every single one of them was playing a UNC game except one tv was playing highschool wrestling? Asked our server if she could get the state game on, she just laughed and said we’ll see and the TV did not change until over an hour later when we had already paid and were walking out. These were not small games, some of the biggest games of the year and the owner of a sports bar straight up refusing to play them is wild to me.
The worst part though is the back room. There are 5 tables in there. One in each corner and one in the middle. Several times now including last night they have sat me and my wife in the back room at the middle table surrounded by 4 tables full of kids. 9 children total. I got to listen to ipads and screaming children while I waited 50 mins for my food after I ordered and couldn’t even watch the game while I waited an unusually long time. I could see empty tables open in the other room the whole time I was there and other people who showed up 15-20 mins after us get their food and leave despite us simply ordering burgers. Not sure why we always get sat in the back and receive bad service when we are always quiet, polite, and tip very well.
I love the food and the first few times we ate here were amazing but the last 3 times we came we were treated rather poorly by staff. I recommend...
Read moreThis was hands down the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. I have been to Dunwellz a number of times before and had a decent experience, but after today, I'm never coming back. Here's why...
My friends and I went here for lunch. At first things were going well. The waitress came right to our table and was very accommodating. Then about 15 minutes in, we started noticing some of the waitresses staring at us and talking. We thought that was a bit weird, but then things got weirder. Many of us had finished our drinks, and our waitress wasn't coming to our table to refill them. We could see her looking at us, but she wouldn't come to our table. Then the manager brought our food out, and he seemed a bit miffed at us. Every one of us at the table were racking our brains trying to figure out what we did to cause everyone to act so offended. I finally got up from the table and brought my empty drink glass to our waitress to ask her to refill my drink and the drinks of my friends at the table. She refilled my drink, but would not bring it back to our table. Another waitress did. A few minutes later, I took another empty glass from our table and asked a different waitress for a refill. She refilled the drink, and our waitress handed me the checks to bring back to our table. Then she realized she had forgotten a couple of our checks and came over to our table for the first time in half an hour to bring those two checks. One of us asked her what was going on, and our waitress told us the hostess had overheard one of us say our waitress was a little b*h. Of course, none of us had said anything even close to that. The hostess was lying. But because our waitress believed the hostess, we were treated like trash. It was also clear that the manager also believed the lie that was told about us. So if you like going to restaurants where employees won't lie about you, save yourself the trouble and don't go...
