Full transparency, this is my buddies bagel store. I did however tell him I wouldn't leave a review until I actually came to eat the bagels, so here I am from Brooklyn NY to Mint Hill NC. I went with my 2 favorite bagel orders, Baconeggandcheese on an everything bagel and a butter and jelly on a cinnamon raisin bagel. Let's start with the BEC....amazing. The first thing that hit my taste buds was the bacon, it's a hickory smoked honey bacon with a sweet kick to it. The cheese and eggs were perfectly folded into each other and the stack was spot on. The everything on the bagel wasn't too strong which didn't take away from the rest of the ingredients. The chew was perfect and nothing slid out of the bagel.
Next was the butter and jelly bagel. Neither butter or jelly overpowered the other. The toast of the bagel gave it a perfect crunchy outer layer while still retaining it's chew, it also had nice chunky raisins that stood out among the flavors.
The place itself had a great layout, you had your fridge full of sodas, juices and waters. There is an ice coffee station with a couple of different flavor selections, a large selection of muffins, cinnamon buns and other baked goods, which just like the bagels are all made in house, and tons of different bagel varieties that change daily. There is also a small seating area just outside of the store in a shaded area for you to enjoy your food.
The staff was super friendly and quick to help and take your order even with a steady flow of customers.
The atmosphere was straight New York, from the subway style sign to the black and white tiled walls.
I want to end this review by saying these are not your typical NY style bagels and that is not what this family owned business is aiming for. This is a group of foodies who happen to be New Yorkers putting their own spin on the reliable...
Read moreI woke up at the crack of dawn the other morning to try some homemade bagels. The whole aesthetic of this space was definitely giving New York vibes and as you walk in, you are greeted with the lovely smells of bagels being made. I don't have a specific bagel order so for my first visit, I ordered the sesame bagel with blueberry cream cheese. I'll start by saying these bagels are big and so so fluffy! When the worker handed me the bag with the bagel, it was still warm so I was pretty excited. I've never had bagels straight out of the oven before and it turned out to be an amazing experience.
As mentioned above, the bagel was super light and the exterior had a nice chew to it. The cream cheese was subtle which allowed the bagel to still shine on it's own as well. I have already recommended this shop to some other bagel lovers, and I definitely see myself coming back here again! The worker who I assumed was possibly one of the owners was super friendly, and I feel like Charlotte is lucky to have a place like this serving up delicious...
Read moreVisiting from NYC- we visited here on 2/21/24 based on the fact it has the whole NY vibe from the outside. Thought I might be able to grab a real bagel down here. The staff was super friendly!! No complaints about them at all, they were great! Now let’s talk about the food. Cream cheese tastes great. No complaints there. The BAGEL is NOT a NEW YORK BAGEL at all! Doesn’t even come close in taste! Sorry, nice attempt but it is NOT!! For starters, a NEW YORK bagel has a hole in the middle of the bagels and these bagels, do not! Which was interesting. The taste of these bagels are giving more of a roll vibe than a bagel. They are okay, just absolutely not what a true New Yorker would expect when grabbing a bagel from a bagel spot. My daughter was super sad there were no rainbow 🌈 bagels 🥯 at this establishment as those are her absolute favorite bagel. So while it wasn’t horrible just know you are getting a North Carolina bagel not a...
