Normally, I do not write restaurant reviews unless it’s a great review. I feel food is subjective to one’s taste so, if I do not enjoy my meal, but others do, I don’t say anything negative especially on social media but this horrible experience needs to be noted.
We arrived at approximately 1:30, very lukewarm greeting but got seated right away so, that tells you they aren’t very busy. After we were seated we were given water and it did take a little bit of time to place our order but that’s fine even though they aren’t busy but here is where it falls apart, I ordered a fish sandwich and my mom ordered a chicken sandwich, pretty straightforward lunch item. We wait and after having a coffee (very weak coffee) we are told about 40 min after being seated our food would be out shortly. We get another coffee (weak coffee) and another 20ish minutes pass. We finally get our food after 2:30 my fish was like rubber, my moms chicken was just a plain tough chicken breast (way too thick to be in a sandwich) anyone that’s going to advertise themselves as a premier restaurant should know to prepare that properly, French fries that are advertised as parm fries but clearly the frozen kind and we neither detected parm taste , no sauce for my fish which actually I choked on the first bite because it was so dry, but we both had really warm and greasy salads which told us our food had been under a heat lamp for God only knows how long. We both are still sick to our stomachs and either their oil was rancid or it was cooking oil as it was beyond disgusting. If you are going to put food under a heat lamp at least be cognizant of the fact the salad will ruin. We never were checked in after our food was served either and I had to tell the waiter the food was awful all he did was shrug his shoulders and say he was sorry. I still left a more than generous tip for probably the worst dining I’ve ever had especially from here. I’ve actually been a few times and while I’ve never walked away thinking it was fantastic I’ve never experienced such poor food quality and not bad service but this was just terrible. You can get better food at a tourist joint for lunch and service than what we...
Read moreVintij has gotten great review for a number of years both at its current location as well as its previous one. I rarely ate at the older location; I had trouble finding anything that I really liked for the price.
The menu has, in my opinion, gotten more appetizing. The meals were always well prepared and some people raved about it. With some of the changes to the menu, I know agree with the high marks it received.
The mango ginger salmon is excellent. The times I have had it, the flavor was excellent. The fish was cooked perfectly.
On the latest visit, the special was snapper over polenta for $25. It was a good choice for the same reasons the salmon was excellent. I was not sure I would like the polenta but it was very good. Two of the people in our dining party had a salad with fish. The lettuce was crisp and the flavor was very good. Nothing was overcooked or underdone.
The 4th member of our party had the fish sandwich. He also thought it was excellent.
There is a good wine list and also a small wine store in the restaurant with a good selection of wine.
Our server was very good. Everything was brought out hot and fresh. We did not have to track him down for refills on the drinks and he was very knowledgeable about the menu.
Several of the dishes changes each day and the server will go over each one.
There is dining both in and outside of the restaurant. Seating is...
Read moreWe werevisiting from another part of Florida and we heard about the restaurant… Read about all the awards and decided to give it a try. We stopped in the restaurant on December 29 to make a reservation for New Year’s Day lunch. The hostess seemed a little aloof and condescending, but I asked her about the availability for New Year’s Day and said I would like to make a reservation. She replied back to me with the details for confirmation and she had made it incorrectly for New Year’s Eve.. I responded very nicely but firmly I said no it is for New Year’s Day. She said OK and it was all set. I received a text on New Year’s Eve morning that my reservation for lunch was confirmed for New Year’s Eve and not New Year’s Day as I had requested. I immediately called the restaurant upset because it is a holiday weekend and I had very nicely corrected her. I was there in person not on the phone with her. Someone answered the phone and I was upset and I did tell the person what happened. They were Rude and not the least bit apologetic. I immediately canceled… Too bad I had heard such good things about that place, but their staff needs to learn manners and to be a little more attentive in business and...
