Clean ingredients, delicious taste, great vibes, and amazing service - what more could you ask for! We had stopped here on the way to Bozeman and were excited to find a place with clean ingredients and a great menu. We got two salad bowls off the menu and made a lot of substitutions which the people helping us with were super patient and kind about. We left with the bowls to eat on our drive but found a little ways out that the chicken was missing. We called them and they quickly put the chicken together in a separate container for us to grab and even asked if we wanted them to toss it with the dressing we’d chosen. They also refunded the whole order - the customer service was beyond what we expected and we were floored by it all - the kindness of the people, the food, and the quality of the ingredients. Can’t recommend Basal enough!

They also sell clean ingredient snacks, and we were able to get 2 new chocolates we hadn’t tried before as dessert as well as LMNT electrolytes to have on the plane.

Just an amazing experience and hope to be back - thank you to the owner and the team...

I love that they rotate their menu seasonally. We had the chorizo & potato salad and every part of it was fresh and amazing. We loved the dressing that came on it. The person who was up front made our food quickly and was very attentive, splitting our salad into two plates for us and bringing us silverware etc!

People often remark on the price, although it is noticeably pricier, I have never minded paying more here because 1. The ingredients are high quality, often local, and if not local then regional, and 2. the staff are compensated well and receive employee perks such as PTO and gym memberships/exercise classes/etc. This is a lot more than most Missoula restaurants can say. If there’s a spot to pay more at, it’s here.

Also there’s ways to make it cheaper like splitting the full salad between two people which was more than enough food.

Great selection of fun NA bubbly drinks...

Missoula - I have found it! The salad place we've needed and wanted. From the moment you walk in, Basal is beautifully designed with a wonderful minimalist aesthetic. They have a great selection of bottled beverages and the perfect amount of pre-designed salads to choose from. The salmon nicoise was absolutely dynamite. I can't wait to work my way down the list trying others and taking advantage of the 'build your own' option. Not to mention, the owners Julie and Taylor are so delightful. You feel welcome from the moment you walk in. After moving here from Austin, TX I was missing creative and delicious places to grab a salad or sit down for lunch. Basal hits all of the marks and exceeds them. Only downside? I'll be putting a lot of miles on my car driving from Evaro to downtown to get my next Basal...

Cherry Mango Oatbar... šŸ¤ŒšŸ¼ ... it's freakin firešŸ”„ā£ļøšŸ«¶. Noticeably sweet, but not overly so, with a nice chewy yet crumbly texture-- a delicious post yoga snack. Paired it with the Matcha Avocado smoothie per server, Em's wise recommendation. I like my smoothies to have a bit thicker texture than Basal's offerings, & Em directed me towards their best options for my preference-- service from Em & Abby was fantastic. The food here is both delicious and high quality with a priority for buying from local farmers. I love Basal's additions to the fresh, quick-service food landscape of Missoula, and only wish it was more feasible to support them beyond the occasional visit. The prices are on the high end of the quick-service spectrum, making it an unlikely regular option.
