This place is a go to for my family and I. They have provided great service up until recently. We went to Double Front last night (5/9/22) after my daughter's T-ball game which was around 7pm. Upon arriving we walked in and there were empty dirty tables all over the place with only 1 table being occupied. There was a blonde young girl that came over and seemed very inconvenienced that she had to even wipe down one table for my family. It doesn't even stop there, not only did the tables remain dirty seriously all night, she wasn't even busy at all, I would just call it being lazy, but she never even made us feel welcome at all! She never once checked on us, when we would call out to her for a side of ranch she didn't even say anything she just went back in the kitchen and threw the little cup of ranch at my husband. I was beyond mad at this point. I felt like such an inconvenience to her that I didn't even want to ask her to refill my water, the way we were treated for just being customers was just flat out completely unacceptable.... Finally at the end my husband asked for a box, she brought the baggy to put our food in and laid the tab down. After waiting for 10 minutes, I walked to the counter where there was another customer standing there waiting to ask for silverware. She appeared from behind where the cooks are and grabbed my ticket and I paid for my meal. I threw the tip into the cook's bowl as I thought they deserved it over her! At this point there were 3 tables total including us that she was serving yet all the other tables were still dirty and all 3 tables had to hunt her down for anything. The table behind ours even made the comment after asking for a coke refill that she must be having a bad night. Overall our experience was horrible last night, I hope that they can get to a point where their service and...
Read moreIf you’re in Missoula and you don’t stop at Double Front Café & Bar, you’re missing out on one of the most memorable meals — and experiences — the town has to offer.
From the moment we arrived, Jason, the owner, made us feel like VIP guests. He didn’t just serve us lunch; he gave us a warm, insider’s tour of the town itself, sharing local history, hidden gems, and even taking us to his local gun club for a unique taste of Montana culture. His pride for Missoula is contagious, and his hospitality is second to none.
And then there’s the food. Let me put it plainly: this is chicken perfection. The fried chicken is crispy on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside, and packed with flavor in every bite. It’s the kind of meal that makes you pause mid-bite just to appreciate it. The sides are amazing, too. The portions are generous enough to satisfy even the hungriest traveler.
The café itself has that comfortable, old-Montana charm, with a cozy atmosphere that makes you want to linger long after your plate is clean. Between the hearty food, the warm service, and the small-town character, Double Front Café & Bar is more than just a restaurant — it’s a piece of Missoula’s heart.
Final verdict: 5 stars isn’t enough. Jason and his team deliver not just incredible chicken, but an experience that feels personal, authentic, and...
Read moreSlow service for higher priced fried food. In case you are still interested, do not order out, you get smaller portions for the same price. Last time I ordered an hour ahead, I told them I would be there 50 minutes from the time I call and asked if the food would possibly be ready an hour from the time I called. They said yes and when i got there they told me 10 minutes, then 2 minutes after 10 minutes that became another 15 minutes and then another 3 minutes that became another 15 minutes. I do not like waiting an hour and a half to get some mediocre fried food and so it will be a while before I try this place again.
The fish and chips or seafood dinner I would say is actually better than the fried chicken as Albertsons gives you triple the fried chicken for $5 on certain days of the week in Missoula. Better yet, I personally believe the best fried chicken in Missoula is actually at the North Reserve Albetsons location. The service is just so slow and they lie straight to your face. No one should say 2 or 3 minutes when it is 25 to 30 minutes. That's not estimating, that's just upright dishonesty and...
