Famous Dave's Bar-B-Que — Restaurant in Missoula

Went there the other night to get a meal for NYE. Restaurant was empty but still a 30 min wait for precooked ribs and precooked baked potato. Got there around 30 min after I ordered. Went to the to go desk. No one there, cash till WIDE OPEN. The manager walked out top check on something and didnt even notice that it was wide open. She also didn't ask me if I had been helped or anything for that matter. Not even a hello. The bartender who took my order was nice and friendly though. Waited at the bar for my food. Got it and drove home. Check your orders people. I will put that on me for not checking but it was 2 items so I thought I was ok. Drive home was about 20-25 with abnormally bad traffic. Got home and 75% of my order wasn't in there. Called the restaurant to get my card refunded. Got the manager. She put me on hold for 10 minutes and 99% she forgot I was there. At no point did she ever apologize for the mix up. I get there are going to be screw ups but the #1 to do immediately is apologize. It goes a long way. I called back after waiting for 10 min. Got someone else. They also did not apologize but did take down my info to make the necessary changes to the bill. I understand this is a huge chain franchise but is it that hard to say i'm sorry? I guess it is. Anyway, I finally sat and ate the ribs I ordered. Horrible. Dry as can be. If you live here in town, you know Nortorious PIG. Their ribs are orgasmic. My point is that Famous Daves charges the same price for a rack of ribs. Unreal. Usually I will give a place a second chance....

Well today’s journey has taken us to a local bbq joint and went kinda late just to test and see how service is maintained and the food quality as well. My kids joined me with this meal. The interior as you walk in is well decorated and greeted very warmly. But as you look around the lighting is very dim your eyes may not fully adjust to the lighting. I went and ordered the onion strings they came out fairly quick. Well cooked and plenty of seasoning. Next came my entree I had ordered the Texas brisket with mashed potatoes and Mac n cheese. When it came out the portions of the sides were very small and very underlay seasoned. As I tried the brisket I expected a lot from being well seasoned to very moist. Well I was surprised that the brisket was very dry but had good smoke ring. I would say that this brisket called very short to being up to standard to being considered Texas brisket. Perhaps next time I would try something else but the brisket will not be on my order again. Other than that the service was good and the server was polite and did check the table countless time but plate we were done with were not taken from the table leaving it very cluttered. That is why I rate this 3 out of 5 giving room for another chance...

Do you love to watch the kids as they explore and learn about the world around them? If you do...you'll love Famous Dave's Bar-B-Q! I was just there (the Missoula location) last night (8/2/2022). Wow. Same word I use each time I visit. Wow. This place will make you feel loved every time! One of the things that has to be there for me to leave a positive review is a confident, proactive service crew. Dave's has that covered every day of the week and twice on Sunday! Very nice, attentive staff that smile once in a while is a MUST have. Excellent food, prepared and presented perfectly, and the Bar-B-Q sauces they have available...have them all 'cuz each one is super good! (And don't pass on the corn bread muffins!). Famous Dave's HAS to be on everyone's short list when looking for something to eat (if you like Bar-B-Q of course). This is one place I cannot say enough about...just go, order and eat...your mouth will thank you and your head may just explode...
