Wally and Buck — Restaurant in Missoula

First time. I've often heard and read about Wally & Buck Hamburgers as being of the Best in the state of Montana and the town of Missoula, Through word of mouth recently and in the past. Never heard of it. That's Missoula for ya. Of all sorts is what Missoula is. Choices on Menu is the Sale. Burgers are small. Price is up there. I met a part owner. I'm raised on a Cattle Farm/Ranch. Big. I ordered the OG after a great Convo with part owner. I sat at the bar right by the kitchen on a stool. The atmosphere is as I guess something I wouldn't expect, but it is in a really great location if you're hungry. The Burger from Oxbow was a tiny bit pink in the middle but I like my burgers done. No big deal. I never said how I wanted it done and it wasn't asked. It was still very tasty how it was prepared. Order of fries was too small. Overall the experience here is not what I expected. The Burger was too small. I'm in the Beef Industry. Not Retail. Blame Inflation I guess. The Burger isn't as good as mine at home. No Soda Fountain machine is a big downer. The Henry Weinhardt Rootbeer is delicious though. I could drink 8 of em. Make the Burgers Bigger guys. I saw and witnessed a guy come in and specifically looked at the menu, then asked how "Big" the burgers were. He had to ask for it to be doubled. I completely understand Quality over Quantity in this business. Need to make a new menu in my opinion or add a Big Burger instead of doing the add one. Not a Poor review guys. The Burger is good. Great little burger shop! And I mean, little! We went at a busy time and they were packed, we had to wait for seating for a little bit after we ordered, maybe 5-10min. They served us our drinks and allowed us to hang out until a table opened up. But the staff were all very efficient, quick to clean off the tables after people left. Great experience.

The burgers were delicious. We were pleasantly surprised at how fresh all of the ingredients were. My husband got their regular Wally burger and I got some special burger they had available with pineapple, arugula, and jalapeños. If that one is available, GET IT! The fries were also delicious and fresh, not greasy at all. Now we know why the place was so busy, because it's worth it. We went around 6pm on a Friday night, pretty sure the rest of Missoula was there with us, but by the time we finished eating, the place was starting to clear relatively quickly. I don't normally write reviews, but I don't normally have a burger that rocks my world like the Original Gangster did at Wally and Buck. I was just traveling through Missoula with a couple of days to kill and I found myself looking for a burger. A local person recommended that I try Wally and Buck and I am glad that he did. I love burgers, I have had burgers all over the country from Memphis to Seattle and I have to say this burger was up there with the world famous Juicy Lucy from the 5-8 Club in Minneapolis. That is saying something because I never thought I would be moved by a burger again the way the Juicy Lucy moved me and I gotta admit the Original Gangster did it. It almost brought a tear to my eye that this country can still produce such fine cuisine. The next time I am west of the Mississippi I will go out of my way to get to Missoula Montana for another Original Gangster Burger.
