Scooter's Coffee — Restaurant in Mitchell

I probably had unreasonably high expectations for a drive through, but we were disappointed by the quality of food and taste of the coffee. We ordered a veggie breakfast burrito, which clearly had been preassembled and then microwaved when we placed the order. The vegetable/egg inside were so mushy that you couldn’t really discern what was in there. The grease completely permeated the small tortilla. I acknowledge that it was also cheap, and now we know why.

We got a medium roast coffee which somehow managed to both be watery but also have a robust bitterness.

After driving through western SD and not having coffee in my system for far too many hours, causing a near-splitting headache, I stopped in Mitchell to grab coffee here. I got two heavy cream lattes, one hot, one iced. Both were very good, but the hot one was not steamed enough, lukewarm, maybe 120 instead of the usual 160. Also sat in line for 10 minutes. We were headed from Rapid City to Omaha and wanted coffee. We found Scooters and were glad we did. Muffin and roll warm and delicious. Lattes also excellent but best part was the staff.
