Don't come here looking to feel welcomed as their website states. Unless you're white. I was there today. Bought a quad shot latte, found a seat to do some work on my laptop while I waited to pick up my dog from the vet in surgery. A couple hours later an employee walks up and proceeds to tell me that I need to leave because I've been there too long. Maybe I was being inconsiderate of limited space? It was on a Tuesday and the town is pretty small, there was plenty of space/accommodations - that can't be it. Then I thought, was I just a victim of racial discrimination? I spent all day rethinking it trying to talk myself out of it since I never really experienced discrimination before, maybe I was being too sensitive? But then I thought back. There were several college aged kids sitting near the window on their laptops who were there longer than me because they were already there when I first got there. All people who were not of color. They never got asked to leave. I'm extremely shocked that this racist behavior still exists in the world. Call me naive . If someone can give me directions to the colored people coffee shop in Moab, l'd greatly appreciate it? You will get all my business since I'm clearly not welcomed here. This consumer/business interaction was one of the worst I have ever experienced. Being asked to leave was one of the most humiliating and degrading experiences in my life.
And while I'm here giving feedback, your coffee is mediocre at best.
Helping me? If you are referring to the sweet girl (seemed like a new employee) who took my order? She was treated just as bad! When she started verbally listing out milk options for me, that same employee/owner (you?) rudely interrupted her and stated "It's on the wall!" with an eye roll. And your statement is simply not true, as stated on my original comment, those kids were there for an unknown amount of time before I even arrived. You have the right to run your business the way you want, if you don't want people hanging out for more than 2 hours that is fine and it's your sole discretion as a business owner. Based on what I experienced myself and my observation on other similarly situated customers, your statement is...
Read moreMy blended coffee was pretty good. The pecan chocolate bear was better. One of the two coffee makers who look like brothers and are probably the owners, was a total sweetheart. The other was a jerk. When the nice guy went to the back to get something and, I was waiting for the coffee I had ordered blended that had been delivered iced instead to get mixed up, the other guy yelled at me for some thing I had mistakenly touched without knowing I shouldn’t have. I mean, it was right in front of me, and I just wasn’t thinking. I apologized quickly, and he continued to yell at me and belittle me and insult me. There was simply no need for him to keep bullying me after I had contritely apologized and said I certainly had no intention of disturbing anything. I am still taking her back at his response. Especially since when the other guy presented my drink, he was just as lovely as before, and in such a total contrast.
Even with the wrong order, which is an easy mistake to make and easily fixed, I would’ve given the place five stars had it not been for the other guy.
While I was waiting across the room, now, after being yelled at, another woman walked up and asked him if he was someone she was sent to look for. He told her he certainly was not an acted like she was stupid to even ask him! So it wasn’t just me . If he hates people so much, maybe he should be kept in the back...
Read moreI've very likely have been here before, in a prior visit to Moab, but after this last visit, I will likely never patronize this establishment again.
The latte was OK, but just as with so many other coffee places these days, they do not understand that a latte is an specific ratio of espresso to milk. A 20oz latte should not only have 2 shots of espresso, as that is not a latte...that's espresso milk! That's like ordering a single cortado and getting an 8oz drink...that would not be a cortado, again, as a cortado has a specific ratio of espresso to milk.
The bagel breakfast sandwiches were fine, nothing special.
But, here is the part that made it where we'd never go back (and now we live close by...so, it truly is a lose for them): My wife, a European, is not a fan of too much ice in here chilled drinks. She asked for light ice. Instead of giving her light ice or simply explaining that due to the light ice, the cup will not be full (as they pour an exact amount of liquid and fill the rest with ice), the guy, I believe the owner or the manager, gave her a snarky response...one, I can only assume, was based on his belief that she was just trying to get more liquid for her money, which would be incorrect, it's a cultural thing: Europeans don't love there chilled drinks...
