While in Moab, the Fat Man had an opportunity to check out a food truck park. The Moab Food Truck Park is a down-to-earth food truck park featuring outlets with classic street fare, plus seating areas. They have eight different trucks offering a variety of cuisines to sample.
We started at Cluckers Fried Chicken and ordered eight boneless wings with buffalo and Bleu cheese. The wings were crispy and juicy and had a great chew. The Buffalo sauce had a good heat level but was not overwhelming, with a nice salty flavor, and the wings were thoroughly coated. The Bleu cheese was out of a bottle but was chunky and offered a cooling effect.
The next truck that we sampled was Fresh 2 Go. We ordered the Philly Cheesesteak with green peppers and fries. The fries were cooked well and crispy, with a nice seasoning, but the aftertaste says the frying oil was old. The bun had good toast, and the steak was juicy and chewed well. However, the seasoning was very light, and more could have been used to cut through the cheese and the bread. The provolone cheese is thick and causes a drying effect on the sandwich. Wiz or a sauce could have helped with that. The green pepper offered some texture to each bite.
Next up was a hot dog from Street Dogs. I ordered a Chicago 7 served with a poppy seed bun, 9ā beef Frank, dill pickle, Chicago style sweet relish, green pickled tomato, chopped onions, sport peppers, celery salt, and mustard. The hot dog was cooked excellently. It was salty and juicy, and the casing had a great snap. The poppy seed bun had a nice toast on it. The sweet relish and the picklesā green tomato offered crunch and sweetness, and the tomato was an excellent surprise feature. The onions and sports peppers also had a good crunch, giving each bite some heat. The mustard and celery salt tied the whole thing together. This one is one of the best Chicago dogs that I have had.
The last stop was at AK Rolls and Bowls. We ended our food adventure with the steamed dumplings. They were filled with Pork and Chicken mix, vegetables, and homemade sauce. The dumplings were steamed well with a slight sticky chew. The homemade sauce is soy-forward with a very light sweetness and hints of rice wine vinegar, but it did not deliver much flavor and was very thin. The chicken and pork were cooked well in the dumplings, but lacked flavor.
Moab Food Truck Park had seating and restrooms, and everyone was very friendly. The Fat Man says the Moab Food Truck Park is Fat Man Approved...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGreat place to go for a quick lunch before you head to either the Arches or the Canyonlands. We planned our Arches trips in such a way that we'd start early in the morning, complete a few trails then come back to Moab, take lunch break at the food truck park and then go back again to the Arches when the sun starts sinking. The plan worked perfectly. This way we avoided the Arches crowd, were never denied entry due to overcrowding and also managed to eat whatever we felt like eating at lunch because the food truck park had a huge variety of trucks serving great food. Be it pasta or Mexican or sandwiches or noodles/fried rice or coffee or juice station - the variety is there and you can't complain on the quantity. Onsite parking is there which may get full if you reach at the wrong side of the day but roadside parking is also there surrounding the park. There's a place in the middle of the park where you can also have your lunch with your folks. That place has a roof as well, necessary as sunshade or rainshade! All in all great experience on both the days, so a 5 star and all the best...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe had no idea that we were traveling to an entire Food Truck Park, with a variety of multiple trucks and food options to possibly choose from. We just had located one truck online and followed the directions that were provided. We thought the idea of a food truck park was fun, and unique. The truck we ate at (Red Wok Kitchen) fed us well, food was decent, but it was not the truck or even the genre of food that we traveled to the park for. We originally wanted a different truck, however, when we arrived, we found out that the truck was not even there. We had 3 truck options to choose from for food and 1 truck option for smoothies/drinks. When trucks move locations, they need to do a better job at keeping that updated online, for accuracy of hours and location. Maybe a central site that shows what exact trucks are on site at the park and during what times they will be there. We were mislead and it was honestly frustrating. Our options for food to choose from were not...
