Newk's Eatery — Restaurant in Mobile

My wife & I first time eating at this concept, ...after a 11 hour trip, we were looking for a place to eat near the Tru Hilton, and what a delight it was. The attention was super nice, & service top it to excellent. High marks for the food quality, which was served timely, hot & fresh. The restaurant ambiance is very nice, and all the facilities so clean...

This brand "Rocks!"...

The menu offerings are plenty, and here you are really served "what you see (menu pictures), is what you get"(actual food served).

My wife had the Turkey Avocado sandwich & Tortilla Soup Pair... both were so good! she is picky about food, and she was won over on the first visit!

I had the 5 Cheese Pimento & Bacon Mac n Cheese, with a Spicy Shrimp Pizza.

The Mac n Cheese was incredibly good, it came on a metal dish and was melty hot from the oven prep, creamy with lots of "Real" bacon pieces... and the Pizza .... WOW!.. thin & crispy, with a great combination of toppings, and every bite you had plenty shrimps!

Before leaving the area, for sure we will be back ! ...already craving for other of the menu items.

Ok first, I really like NEWKS. My goto is the Newks Fav Salad and almost any of their soups and sandwiches. My downgrade is b/c I ordered a pickup/takeout salad and it is easily 1/2 or less than the dine-in portion for the same price. And the picture on the menu with two hearty scoops of chicken salad on top? Not on my takeout. They were more like two teaspoons, mini-scoops I'd say. Salad tasted good, but I downed it in about 10-12 bites. When I eat in, I usually have leftovers. You shouldn't cheat or punish your take-out customers folks. There is another eatery in town where you can get a monster salad with everything in the kitchen sink in it for $9 and 5 tubs of dressing (any flav) included...take out or dine in. Sorry Newksy, this trip was not worth the $13 "Side Salad" portion with two teaspoons of chicken salad. Look, I get inflation. But I ate there 2 weeks ago dine-in and still had leftovers. Stop penalizing your loyal customers who don't dirty your tables, floors, dishes, and bathrooms. Time to re-evaluate your take out. Won't be back in that mode...

I normally love love some Newks... But this visit, not so great. I ordered half a steak sandwich and soup to go. I got home and pulled this wonderful sandwich (that I had been craving!) out of the bag only to be completely disappointed! There was only 2 little flat pieces of steak, no yummy melted cheese, and about a cup and a half of carmelized onions. There was so much horseradish sauce that it was all over the bread, both sides, inside and out, I couldn't touch it without getting it all over myself. I love this sandwich and all the ingredients when they're in the correct proportions....maybe the sandwich dude was just having a bad day, I don't know. I was very disappointed because it's not a cheap sandwich, but I will go back. Everytime I've ordered this sandwich it has been excellent, so I'm chalking it up to a bad day for the chef.
