We had some spare time while visiting Mobile and decided to walk down to try it out. It turned out to be a great decision. There is plenty of outdoor seating (which allowed our dog to join us). The staff were great and we were impressed with the board we ordered (the ploughman). We do wish that we had ordered a bigger board, only because the cheese, pickles, honey, and salami were so good! We would've liked to try more of their cheese offerings in particular. It's definitely worth a visit. If we find ourselves in Mobile again, we'll definitely be back!

This place is delicious and I will be back for more! I got the pimento cheese and bacon jam toastie. I also had a side of cranberry gouda cole slaw. And I also ordered some cake. First, the sandwich comes with chips and they were kettle and great! The slaw was different and I really enjoyed it. The cranberries make it. The sandwich was fun and very good. But y’all this cake, this cake was next level. I’m going to write an ode or ballad to it one day. Anyway, come for the cheese but leave with some cake. Amen?

we are visiting from Indianapolis and my girlfriend found this place it is totally amazing five star start to finish! The creamy carrot ginger soup get it by the bowl delicious! Mushroom and Swiss out of this world! Rose The waitress did such a good job we were the last people to come in tonight and she treated us like we were the first, kind and very knowledgeable of the menu I would definitely put this on my list for places to stop 💪🙌

Fantastic delectable dishes and warm, welcoming service. Went here on a rainy, cooler day for Mobile and was rewarded with some of the most delicious food I've had in a long time, that made me recall favorite visits to Europe. The cheese board was excellent. Appropriately the cheese outshone the meats that were all a little bland, but man were the cheeses, honey and jam incredible! Sort of like close your eyes to savor all the goodness incredible! These were the flavors that took me back to Europe. The soup of the day... wow factor of 10/10. My ultimate four cheese baguette was super and so close to perfect, but wasn't warm by the time it reached me. Bummer for all the melty-cheese loaded onto it. I usually am not a cheesecake fan, but I stated out loud to my family at the table that the perfectly sized cheesecake was The Most Delicious Cheesecake I've Ever Had the Pleasure of Tasting. No joke. The balance of sweet and actual cheese (who knew that cheesecakes could taste cheesy!) taste was another close my eyes moment. Absolutely delectable. Thank you all for a wonderful outing! My only notes would be: 1. The rain and the breeze made things a little cooler for some, including my senior mother. I would have closed at least one of the weather panels on that day, or fired up one of the outdoor heaters. 2. We were eating and trying so many things that the table quickly became a mess, esp with the humidity. It took us out of the wonderful experience when we had to clean up the table ourselves. 3. Thank you for wearing masks, but only when customers see you? That was a little disappointing considering the current precautions. 4. The inside of the cottage is great, charming and reminiscent of far off places where cheese is an art like Switzerland or France, but isn't reflected in the exterior space. Something special outside could be nice too, esp if no one needs to enter the cottage. A locally painted cow sculpture perhaps? (On trips to Zurich, they have cow sculptures all over the city that are painted by local artists.) Thank you again! Seriously, I will be savoring my visit and the great server experience until the next time I have the good...

My co-workers and I have eaten there quite a bit. The food is AMAZING. I cannot stress how much I love the caprice salad. Also, they use environmentally friendly compostable containers most of the time. HOWEVER, we cannot get past the way we have been snipped at on a couple of occasions. To be fair, they were kind of busy. However, I have eaten at busy restaurants and not been treated with such distain. My entire group has been snapped and talked to like we were a bother upon arrival when we try to get seated. I am not a dramatic person, but it was absolutely JARRING the way we were treated. I would love to keep eating there, but today was the third strike. Which is a shame, because the food is good. 4 stars on food, -1 star on service. UPDATE: To respond to your update. The reason we ordered ahead was that it takes a long time to get our food. Once we sat there for an hour waiting on food. Still, even though it takes a long time when busy, we tried to keep eating there. We liked the food so much, that we went ahead and pre-ordered, since it would be on our short lunch break. I let you know by noting Dining In, because there was no Dine In option online. The complaint, however, was not about where we sat, it's how we were instructed to sit there and how snappy the instructions have been on more than one occasion. I admit, it pains us to give up Cheese Cottage because we can walk there on our lunch break, and the food is great. However, I now feel gaslighted about the...

Lunch: I went to the restaurant for a quick lunch where it was explained what they didn't have and what couldn't be made during lunch hours. That included pizza. To make this short they had 3 or 4 salads and sandwiches for lunch. So as long as you're not after a warm meal and your okay with warm drinks this is the place. I'm sure it's a great wine destination, but not suited for lunch. Even the forks weren't suitable they are very short in length making them awkward to use.

I'd suggest replacing the forks, serving ice, and making sure you have a few warm options you can serve regardless of how busy you are. The ice and hot soda really turned me off. I wish them luck as it's a cool location and building.

Edit: You're really going to have to get creative for an ice machine. Maybe finding something that makes ice for a fountain station that can be mounted higher up and not take up floor space, or an outdoor model. If you can serve a hot meal and ice cold drink I'll revisit and rewrite my review. As an engineer I'd be happy to drop by sometime and see if there's an outside the box option to help you guys out. You have a very interesting location and lots of potential, but you got to be able to serve a child beverage that lasts longer than 2...
