We chose this company because the area had no other escape room options. We reserved an escape room on Saturday, February 17th for 5pm before reading the reviews and the plus side is that we chose well! The Jigsaw Room seems to have been the only escape room that was set up as an actual escape “room” according to other reviews.
We also booked with the knowledge that the room might be shared with another group. Of course, we were hit with the news that someone else would be joining us (which was not ideal, but completely ok). Fortunately, the game master got their information wrong or maybe the customer booked the wrong day. Either way, we were able to experience this room solo.
For those who don’t want to read a story, the short version is that this room is worth the $30 because it’s cheap. It’s a fun way to pass the time, but don’t come here if you’re on a schedule. Also, don’t expect anything more or you will be disappointed.
PROS: this escape room had plenty of locks to solve. The instructions were clear.
CONS: to start, the game was booked for 5pm. We arrived very early (4:30PM-ish) and were waiting in their lobby for the room to get reset. We had anticipated the start time to be by 5:10pm at the latest, and it was during this time that we were still under the impression that someone would be joining our room.
We had waited until 5:30PM or so, which could have been a great use of the game master’s time to show us the general rules of the establishment.
Anyway, the game didn’t actually start until 5:40pm or so, after the rules were shown and the interior of the escape room explained to us. And then the usual video to give us the room’s story played before we could finally begin our game.
Game play was good; nothing too frustrating. We were aware that the microphones might have been muffled and to speak to a specific camera/in the camera’s direction, and to wave our hands for attention. When we asked for the first two hints we were given them within seconds. We asked for a final hint towards the end of the game (at 15 min) but they did not respond after our attempts of contact, and the last hint never came until we had around two minutes left.
Upon ending the game and solving the last lock, a game master (not sure if it was OUR game master since the person who entered was not who had guided us at the beginning) entered the room and didn’t regard us in a manner typical of of any game master we’ve interacted with in the past. He just kind of walked in wordlessly and confirmed that our last lock was solved.
No offer to take a picture and no goodbye was vocalized as we walked towards the exit. The game master who had ushered us out went up to the next group, so, we just walked out.
We’re not ones to avoid an establishment based on bad reviews since we believe in giving everyone a fair shot. But, the bad reviews for this company will keep us from trying out the...
Read moreA puzzle box in a room does NOT qualify as an escape room. Disappointed at best doesn’t even cover how this place made us feel. And as someone who travels around the world, doing escape rooms in different countries, I am at 100+ escape rooms completed. TK escape is the first time I encountered anything like this.
There needs to be some kind of notice or something stating on the website that school of magic and philosophers stone are puzzle boxes, not escape rooms. Had we had any notice that was the case, A. We wouldn’t have driven over an hour to do puzzle box rooms. B. We sure as hell wouldn’t have paid +$30 per person to do a puzzle box room. C. We wouldn’t have been so absolutely crushed when expecting to walk into an immersive escape room and instead walking into a tiny room with a box on a table and absolutely nothing else.
On top of the total disappointment of the false advertising the employees were lazy beyond belief. Granted it was about 42 degrees in the building so I understand why they would want to just sit in the employee room wrapped in blankets sleeping and playing on their phones but this is your JOB. We arrived on time only to be asked to wait for 20+ minutes because the game had not been reset from a previous group.
We had booked 3 rooms 4:15, 5:15, 6:30. And by 8 pm we were just getting read the rules for jigsaw which appeared to at least be an actual escape room. To then find out that a couple who was not interested in joining our groups together had been booked for it as well. So we left after the two puzzle rooms asking for a refund for the room we never got to do.
Had it not been for Angel- the only decent thing about this place- we would have absolutely walked out after getting shown into a room with a box on the table instead of the promised escape room.
Please save yourself the disappointment and find a REAL escape room to try because true escape rooms are worth every...
Read moreFirstly, we drove over an hour to get here just to be disappointed from the start!! The first of three rooms that we booked was the School of Magic. We booked for 4:15 and didn’t even get into the room until 4:45 which was already putting us behind for the second room we had booked. When we walked into the School of Magic room, the looks of disappointment on all of our faces could have been heard in New Orleans. We were expecting a whole room not just a room the size of a broom closet with a table in the middle with a PUZZLE BOX on it for us to try and solve. Immediately we wanted to leave but we gave it a chance. This Puzzle Box was just a confusing mess with no real directions given. After we had finished the School of Magic room we went back out into the waiting area so we can start our second room. We were about to be called back. for the second room but we were told that the room hadn’t been reset yet! Meanwhile there had been 3 other employees, besides ANGEL, who weren’t even doing anything besides playing on their phones. So I don’t understand why none of them couldn’t help her reset the rooms or just do it themselves. The second room we booked was the Sorcerers stone, which I was hoping would be different but nope. Another damn Puzzle Box. Again we walked into the room already defeated because this is not what we signed up for. We signed up for An ESCAPE ROOM!! We lastly were signed up for the Jigsaw room, which we had scheduled for 630pm but we didn’t even get to go into the room until almost 8pm. Which at that point we were told that another group was schedule for 8pm and they didnt want to do the room with us so we just asked for a refund and left. IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST EXPERIENCE DOING AN ESCAPE ROOM PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! It will not be a true escape room experience and there are so many...
