The reason for this review is an utmost compliment to the staff at the Saenger in Mobile.
I purchased tickets to see a show on 06.19.2023 the day they went on sale. Through that I had to make arrangements to accomodate for my friend and her wheelchair. Angela in the box office was quite helpful in attaining tickets and elaborating upon what I would need to do to make those arrangements as it was my first venture into this sort of thing. The day of the show I called and spoke with (I think it was Jenny) a young lady that confirmed a few things.
Everything was going as planned until the lead singer/bass player asked everyone to stand up and enjoy the show. Rightfully so that he wants people to be up and enjoying themselves while they play. Well, that left my friend and I not able to see anything but the backs of the rows of the individuals in front of us of rows A - D.
This is certainly a fault not attributable to the venue, the band, or us. It was a matter of circumstance and is always possibility of a seated venue.
She made adjustments and sat as high as she could in her chair watching the show through her phone with her arm fully outstretched, but I could 'feel' her disappointment and my own in the tarnishing of her experience of the evening.
So.....
I went and tactfully, patiently and eloquently found an attendant to help with my dilemma and see if I could rationalize a solution.
Simply put, and I hope this does not get anyone in hot water, they moved her and I to the VIP section about 10 feet away from our original seats and level with the stage so that she could watch and enjoy the show.
Which she did and she very much appreciated.
And I perhaps more than her because there was no conflict and, I think, the correct solution to have occured in this situation.
THANK YOU SAENGER THEATRE AND ALL INVOLVED.
My apologies for yelling, but it must be known that they went above and beyond for my friend and I to have a pleasureable experience by pulling the situation out of a...
Read moreWe have spent hundreds to over thousands of dollars here, for events and concerts over many years. Travis Tritt, Dwight Yoakam, Black Jacket Symphony (multiple x's), Alice Cooper, Irish Dancers, ZZ Top, Fleetwood Mac Tribute, & More and everything about the saengar...is absolutely wonderful. But, a "major issue", those who get liquered up or in plane general rude, to their neighbors behind them... People pay hundreds of dollars to enjoy a wonderful show. And have to stair at the backs of drunks who started early. Or people who have no home training...and if you want to stand up and dance...or wave yourself all over.. .be courteous to your neighbors behind you, Young & Old....and kindly move to the outside isles.. to wiggle off beat or dance or wave your arms all over... These people absolutely disregard the staff who kindly requested to please , "not block others".. then those ask ..turn around and vindictive continue or incite their neighbors. We have witness and endured this multiple events. Which makes others not want to attend events at this location. If there is Anyone in Upper Management of the Saenger Theatre....please have the backbone to have someone make a kind announcement before each concert....
"As a courtesy to your neighbors behind you, if you feel the need to dance, stand, or move about,...please move to the out side isles...that way you are not blocking others, behind & beside you, who paid and would love to enjoy the show with you"..
This will guarantee a possible standing ovation 👏🏾. From others who have dealth...
Read moreWent there to see Alice Cooper. Alice was great but let's see where to begin. Parking was terrible then I found another lot farther away with plenty of parking. Of course, downtown Mobile is going to make a buck. $10 for 12 hours even though we used less than three hours. It was a long line to get into the building which is neither here no there but for as late as we were looking for a parking spot, I thought it would be quicker getting in. The people that worked there were pleasant and helpful finding our seats. Upon finding our seats is where my complaint stems. The seats were too small. I am 6'5, 350 lbs. Sure I can stand to lose about half that but my kids who are about 5'3 and 105 lbs complained the seats were too small. I had lines from the seat on the sides of my legs for about four hours after the show. We sat in a row with an aisle in front so we were up against a wall I still have bruises on my knees and shins. I was a good thing no one was in front of me, my knees would have been on their ears. Also the seats felt like they were pushed forward so you couldn't sit back, always leaning forward. And I was pouring out of the seat onto the people next to me, luckily it was my kids. Other than that since the venue goes pretty much straight up, even in the nose bleed seats you have a good view of the stage. The acoustics are decent. Alice ruled the evening. I won't be back for ZZ Top until they rectify the...
