Osaka is #1 on the “to-eat in Modesto” list! My husband was a regular here before he moved, so whether we’re in town for a few days or a week, we know we’ll be dining here for lunch or dinner at some point. Kenny, the owner, is always friendly and remembers my hubs even though he moved away years ago; it’s such a pleasure to see and talk with Kenny. We generally enjoy the appetizer of pork gyoza. Their salad is the standard iceberg lettuce mix with the pink House-Mayo base; no ginger or ranch dressings here. Miso Soup is not something I’m accustomed to; the East Coast is the nation serves Clear Soup. Miso is more cloudy with chunks of tofu and seaweed....I usually push my bowl towards hubs because it’s a taste I haven’t acquired and I can’t, and won’t, do tofu. We have tried so many rolls and I love Spicy Girl and Fuji Mountain AND! Pregnant friendly - The Lion King! I highly recommend their sushi. Lunch time brings your choice of a bento box if you so choose; all generally under or about $10. Your choice of meat, served with rice, a small side of salad, some pieces of tempura, and about 4 slices of a roll which has avocado, krab, and cream cheese (I think). The go-to for the pregnant girls in our family is the teriyaki dish. Served sizzling on a hot iron skillet! Mushrooms, sliced onions, broccoli, and carrots. The rice is served on the side and you can choose chicken, steak, or salmon. Fun Fact; This place was an old Burger King and was converted to Osaka. Osaka has been around since 2007 and does get quite busy; it’s popular! I’ve witnessed people on a wait during lunch hours several times,...

Read moreI'm sad to say we can't leave a review on the food itself because unfortunately we didn't even get our food. We arrived around 6pm on Sunday and we were seated inside fairly quickly, which was nice. The 1 star is for that. We were asked what we'd like to drink and ordered just 3 waters. 15 minutes later a different waiter stopped and asked us about whether we wanted drinks? So we ordered 3 waters again since the first time we didnt recieve the waters. We waited at least another 15 minutes before being asked what we'd liked to eat. By then, after 30minutes at the table looking at menus we ordered everything we knew we wanted by then, including appetizers, however they were completely out of edamame. After ordering, we waited 50 additional minutes without having a single waiter come to our table. We watched 2 separate parties of 2 seated after us nearby, recieve AND finish they're food. My husband decided to wave our waiter over to ask about ours? The waiter said sorry, they're backed up, and went to check on our food time. We had now been in the restaurant 1 hour and 20 minutes total, and hadn't even recieved our 2 appetizers we'dordered. 5minutes later our waitress walked past our table again without letting us know our remaining wait time.. When we were able to get her attention again, we let her know kindly we were leaving to get our 10yr old something to eat elsewhere. A complete disappointment and huge waist of time for such...
