I can't say enough good things about Ranas Taqueria on McHenry! This place serves up some of the best super burritos I've ever had - and I've tried my fair share around the Central Valley. The super burrito was absolutely incredible. Every bite was packed with fresh, flavorful ingredients that were perfectly balanced. As a full-time RV family who travels all around the US, I can honestly say this is the best super burrito I've had in 42 states! You can tell they take real pride in their cooking because the taste was just phenomenal - authentic Mexican flavors done right. But it doesn't stop there - even the sides were exceptional. The chips were crispy and fresh (not stale like so many other places), and the salsa was clearly made in-house with that authentic taste that's hard to find. It had just the right amount of heat and freshness that made me keep coming back for more. What really sets this place apart though is the service. Every time I've been here, the staff has been friendly, attentive, and clearly takes pride in what they do. It's that kind of genuine hospitality that makes you want to become a regular. If you're in Modesto and craving authentic Mexican food, do yourself a favor and check out Ranas Taqueria. This is a true gem that deserves all the recognition it can get. I'll definitely be back soon! Highly...
Read moreHands down the worst taqueria I’ve ever been to.
Sauce: Tasted like someone cracked open a can of tomato paste and called it a day. Zero spice, zero depth—just sad.
Carnitas tacos: Absolutely pathetic. Not a crisp in sight, barely a sprinkle of onion or cilantro. The meat was chewy, soggy, and somehow still dry—like it was pressure-cooked, then left to sulk in its own disappointment.
Al pastor taco: No seasoning, no char, no point. Soft, sure—but so is a wet paper towel. Completely forgettable.
Chicken burrito: Dry to the point of hostile. Chicken tasted boiled to death, like hospital food. Canned beans and flavorless rice rounded out this waste of tortilla.
Super nachos (carnitas): A total abomination. Carnitas were just big, greasy, chewy chunks of bland fat. Piled with canned beans and what might’ve been mozzarella? Disgusting. This plate made me gag.
Fish taco: Shockingly decent. If I were forced to order something again, this would be it. But nothing’s worth walking back through that door.
Final verdict: This place doesn’t serve Mexican food—it serves culinary betrayal. Save your stomach, your money, and...
