If you crave to pay for mediocre food, poor service, and wet seats to sit in â look no further â Sakura Buffet is your place.
Weary travelers driving down the I-80 will be excited to see a Japanese restaurant on their search engines. But, learn from other peopleâs experience and steer away. There are other options in town.
Hereâs my experience today:
As we entered the restaurant, we were offered a seat. Just as I was about to get seated, I noticed that the table was freshly wiped. My ninja instincts kicked in (sorry, couldnât help myself) and I glanced at the seat and it was wet! We asked to be seated elsewhere and the usher who couldnât speak English led us to a dry seat. Phew!
Little did we know that the excitement was just getting started.
Iâm a vegetarian and I asked the waitress if I could order food to be prepared. But, with her agile hand movements and abrupt tone, she made it adequately clear that I need to pick something from the buffet. Iâm sure that on a better day, she would have asked me if thereâs anything that I need, but I suppose she had decide to skip the basic tenets of customer service for today.
But our adventure doesnât end here. I got up and went to get sushi to go. Today, they decided that they want to charge me for the soy sauce, wasabi, and ginger slices and that too, by weight!
At this point, I made the determination that these kind folks donât want my business. So, we promptly left the premises and took a 2 minute drive down to Taco Bell, where we were greeted with old fashioned customer service. They served me fresh food and did not even charge me for the packets of sauce â imagine that!
In case youâre wondering how I determined that the food is mediocre, the full story is that my friends were with me and had already started eating when I was on a quest to find vegetarian sushi. My friends stopped eating and decided to leave with me. I pressed them to stay, but they were glad to leave because the food wasnât good.
Goodbye, Sakura Buffet. I promise that you wonât have to go through the inconvenience of having me or my family and friends at your establishment...
Read moreFirst visit here in years. The best Chinese andddd somewhat American food / buffet close to us, in our opinion. We have not been able to partake of this little luxury in our lives the past few years due to the distance we travel and health issues. So this was somewhat of a big deal to us and it could not have been better. Greeted inside by an intelligent young man who's politeness was welcome, he led us to the table we requested then waited until we were seated to ask if we would like anything to drink and told us our waitress will bring those then he thanked us. You do not see this often enough these days, at least we don't, he thanked us. The young Lady who brought our ice tea was not overly friendly but there was another waitress a little older who kept checking if everything was ok. Pleasant and committed to her job she got the tip. Despite being pretty busy, which is normal for a Sunday here, Sakura is big and we never feel crowded. The buffet is big (hugely in my opinion) orderly and constantly supplied with hot fresh variety. Always been surprised how clean the whole place is considering the amount business they do. Valerie and I have always enjoyed how mellow the environment is except for the occasional screaming kid or crying baby, you'll have this from time to time and from time to time we are the disrupting ones. Can't say enough about the quality food and being affordable and all...
Read moreThe food is bland. We always come here to eat with our two kids and my fiancĂ©'s brother...it usually costs us $60 for the 5 of us. They upped the prices so it costs $98 for all of us and they even posted that they will charge 11.99 per pound wasted! We have 2 little kids that love to try new food. This is literally going after the kids because kids sometimes eat alot and sometimes eat a little. We portion very small but sometimes there are still leftovers on their plates and between the two could easily be a pound. What was an easy cheap meal option for the family every once in awhile turned into an expensive night which we were lucky to be able to cover the bill. Not worth the money for the staff not to do refills, and eye you the WHOLE time watching you eat. I had one plate and my stress and anxiety was too much because they were starring and the fact of the waste rule now. I left this restaurant STILL HUNGRY!!! At a buffet nonetheless. We owe our son a new birthday dinner because this was a horrible birthday dinner for himđȘ We will never be returning to this establishment. Also the snow crab tasted awful like it went bad days ago or just not properly cookedđ€ą This place went downhill....and it's honestly sad to see...Clarion really needs another buffet option such as golden corral and put this place out...
