PAY WITH CASH!Okay, I'll start off with the good. The place was ADORABLE! It was super cozy and I loved the décor. The food was also really yummy. The scones, lemon curd and clotted cream were delicious. My favorite was this little chocolate cup filled with mousse and some peppermint. Unfortunately, there were some issues with our visit. The pipes were frozen and the toilet was not working properly, so that was a little awkward. We went in to wash our hands and were followed in. Luckily, we didn't have to use the toilet while we were there. (I'm not sure that we would have gone to tea time at all if we were informed of this issue ahead of time.) Something that definitely disappointed me was that the young man who was our host didn't know what he was serving us. I asked him about 3 different items on our tiered tea stand and he didn't know what any of them were. Given the nature of the very limited menu, I don't think there's any excuse for the host to not know the items they are serving. The most concerning issue, was that my debit card was charged an extra 46$. I contacted Tea Time to inform them and I was told "it must have been the system" that they use to process payments. I went back and forth with Tea Time and my bank for FOUR days while this money was taken out of my account and unable to be used. These phone calls/texts were time consuming, as well as frustrating. After 4 days, the money was finally freed and back into my available balance. Tea Time knew about this situation and how frustrating it was. I would have thought they would have at least offered something as a gesture to make up for all the frustration. Something like "Hey, we are so sorry for all of this trouble, tea is on us next time." I did not get anything like that. The food was really yummy, but definitely not worth all the frustration I encountered. Update: I was charged $46 AGAIN 5 days later! Update #2: Instead of admitting to charging me multiple times, they are trying to insinuate that my bank just randomly charged me 3 times AND the wrong amount. The bill was 118$ and I was charged 46.01 on 2 separate occasions. I have been in contact with Wells Fargo numerous times and they have confirmed that Tea Time...
Read moreWhat a gem of a tea house for a delightful afternoon. Whether you are solo, a duo, or a group out for fun this is the place to impart some lovely conversation, delicious food, treats, and of course some of the best tea ever. We enjoyed the Sandwiches and Savory option with a chicken salad croissant, salad with poppyseed dressing and a perfect amount of Mac and cheese. We had trouble deciding but managed to love everything. If we had more room we could have ordered more! So many options. I loved the choices and best part, everyone in the party can order what they want. You don't have to do the same dishes/tea/etc. - great for those dealing with any health restrictions or dietary restrictions. But you never feel like you are missing out! We ended our meal with a scone and it was so worth it. Even the fruit on the side was fresh and amazing. Each touch is perfect. No need to rush. Busy event going on in downtown so just be prepared to find alternate parking but what a great opportunity to have so many fun things happening in downtown! This is the best addition to Monroe yet. We loved our service and conversation with the owner and her family - they welcomed us, answered questions, and spent great time relaxing and drinking our tea. So many choices. All delicious. What is awesome is the bottomless tea means you can try different varieties and my friend and I chose and sampled. What a treat. Make your reservation and get to the newest treasure in Downtown Monroe. We...
Read moreThis experience – food, service, and atmosphere – was fantastic.
My mom and I came on a Saturday afternoon and ordered the chicken salad croissant sandwich, which was just the right size. It came with a delicious salad, a soup – we chose the daily offering, which was asparagus – and berries with sweet yogurt dip (neither my mom or I like yogurt, but we really liked it!). The Snowflake tea was bright, nutty, and sweet – even my classic-southern-sweet-tea-only mom loved it. Plus, the tea is unlimited after you order, so we were able to try a second type, the Fairy Dust, a cinnamon-heavy, earthy tea that I also really enjoyed.
The seating area and restroom were both clean, bright, and pleasantly decorated. The staff was attentive, flexible, and kind. Truly an excellent experience; I can't...
