My friends and I, along with our little children, chose Le Gabrielle Crepes & Waffles for a much-anticipated breakfast, but unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed. We often visit the Windner location of this chain, where we have always been satisfied with the taste and quality of the food. However, breakfast at this location was completely different.
The food was far from the level we were used to. My avocado toast was bitter and inedible, despite the fact that I was hungry. My friends’ breakfasts also did not meet our expectations: the dishes were overly salty and drastically different from what we usually order in Windner.
Moreover, we were very disturbed by the number of flies in the dining area. They were literally swarming over the food and even disturbed my sleeping child — a fly landed on his face and woke him up. This is unacceptable and unsanitary. It made it impossible to enjoy our breakfast.
We decided not to leave a tip since each of us paid about $40 for a dish that we couldn’t eat. After breakfast, we went out to the beautiful terrace to take some photos. Some time had passed when the waitress approached us and asked if we still wanted to leave a tip, despite the fact that we had already left the table and were enjoying our time on the terrace. This made the situation even more awkward and unpleasant.
It’s a shame that our outing, which we had been looking forward to for so long, was marred by such a disappointing experience. We hope that the management of the establishment will pay attention to the issues mentioned and take steps to address them. 🌱☀️ Hi Chris,
Thank you for your response and for addressing my feedback. I appreciate your openness and your willingness to look into the situation. I understand that issues can arise, especially during new seasons and as the business expands. It’s reassuring to see that you’re already taking steps to improve.
However, my visit did fall short of expectations, which impacted my overall experience. Your email gives me hope that such situations will be handled more promptly in the future.
I would be happy to return in the future and see how you’ve addressed these challenges. I hope my next visit will be more positive, allowing me to fully enjoy your restaurant.
Thank you for your understanding...
Read moreStoped by this place while I was in the area, very excited to try it after a word of mouth recommendation. The place is really cute, love the decor, however my experience left a lot to be desired.
I ordered the burger which indicated on the menu it was a double patty; since it indicated it was a double patty, assuming the patties would be thin I did not order it to a certain temperature. However, once I received my plate, the burger was one larger patty and it was well done. I advised my waitress that the menu indicated two thin patties versus one thicker patty and I would prefer my thicker patty to be cooked medium well. At that time the manager came over I explained to him the situation, he said that he would get my burger remade to medium well. He came back out with the same plate saying the cook said my burger was medium well, however it was not - it was well done and dry. The manager went back to the kitchen and had the cook remake my burger, at that point my burger came out raw, literally raw. There was a little brown on each side and the inside was still cold and mushy because it was raw ground beef. You can see the blood coming from the meat onto the bun in my pictures. In the interim, I had ordered French dip soup; the soup came out barely warm, the cheese on top was not even melted and they put the bread inside of the soup instead of on the side or on top so all of the bread was already mushy by the time I received the bowl. I dug out the musty bread and ordered a side of the bread for the soup before I realized it was not to temperature.
I'm not sure I feel comfortable trying this place again, fearing more retaliation from the burger incident. That's sad because it seems like a really good place to eat generally and the manager was very nice and apologetic, however the chef is unforgiving and seemingly petty to send out a raw burger.
The manager did advise they are working on getting new menus which would reflect one larger burger patty versus two smaller - I feel like a lot of this could have been avoided had the waitress advised me that it was one larger patty instead of what the menu said etc. Positive: the fries with whatever dip they provide with it is...
Read moreDelicious food, beautiful atmosphere, but overall a completely disappointing service experience. I met a friend here who I haven’t seen in many months, planning to spend some catch up time over coffee and breakfast. We were there right under two hours, we ordered a round of coffee, breakfast, post meal coffee and then each ordered a to-go dessert crepe to take home to our individual families. Our total bill was $80 and we left a $20 tip for our waiter - who was wonderful! Just as we finished our post meal coffee and within 10 minutes of paying our bill, a gentlemen (I assume was a manager) came to our table and said we would be welcome to continue our conversation on their rooftop. So effectively asking us to leave. We, of course, agreed and said we were about to leave anyhow, and passed two empty tables/booths on our way to the door. I was honestly shocked - we both were - as I’ve never encountered this in all my many visits to restaurants and coffee shops. I’ve also never left a negative review, so this is a first. However, it effectively ruined what was (to that point) such a lovely experience. We were both visiting from out of town (I’m from Oconee) but I ran into 4 different groups of people while there and had already excitedly texted my family that I would have to bring them back. I was so disappointed and surprised at the (polite) request to leave our booth, that I honestly don’t care to come back now. I left a 2 star rating (versus 1) because the food was good, the place is beautiful and our immediate server was so kind. I just hope the overall approach to service by the management team is addressed so the overall experience is...
