It is such a nice day out I took a walk down Myrtle and I noticed a new place to eat. I walked in all happy and ordered two tacos with beans and rice. The male server was very nice clear spoken and very cordial. But then he was changed out by a female who had me repeat my order. I politley told her again and we moved on down to the topping area. She said something but I could not hear what she said. I asked her to repeat it and I still could not hear. I very nicely said "I can't hear you with your mask on." She clearly starts to turn into a Karen and told me to put my mask on. There were 7 other people eating inside and walking around and 2 outside with no masks on and I told her "I do not have one on me and I will eat outside." She then tells a co-worker to get me a mask. By that point we are down to the cash register and I had cash out to pay. I politley said "no thank you" to the mask and that "I will happily pay and eat outside." Then said Karen says "I'm not going to serve you, Sir" and takes my fully prepared plate while handing my cash over away. I was totally surprised at her rudeness and just down right mean. She then tells another male co-worker and he looks at me bewhildered and says "he's going to eat outside", like no big deal. The other female co-worker looks away like she was embarrassed. They should not let that Karen girl handle any customers. I really like Myrtle street and every other bar or reasturaunt are very very nice and I have never had a...
Read moreHey I need to let you know right upfront that I judge all breakfast burritos against Lucky Boy.
This burrito was bigger than LB and that is totally on account of the BYO (build your own) burrito bar setup. You can get carried away with toppings. I chose egg, tater tots, cheese, JalapeĂąo, bacon, chorizo, beans, rice, salsa and there was more! I want to find out if they have to stop you at some point because they would have physically been incapable of rolling a burrito eventually.
The staff was so friendly and answered all of my n00b questions. They were perplexed at my decision to choose a mild salsa with my chips but diablo salsa and habanero salsa for my burrito. It's all about balance.
Parking is available everywhere nearby, since this is downtown Monrovia along Myrtle. Plenty of seating and a bright airy interior playing radio hip hop that pairs well with uh, chronic. They serve beer if you're into that sort of thing. I will be back to try tacos and nachos and those sweet looking mini churros with caramel dip. I'm sure every other entree is also...
Read moreI was planning on taking my kid and I to get food at the Monrovia Street Fair, but I was greeted by Desi and Catalina on the way there. They were so friendly and told me about the deals of the day. There was something so sweet about their disposition. I told them we'd come back after checking out the street fair.
We were planning on looking for food at the street fair, but -- legit, Desi and Catalina's positive energy were stuck in my head. I was thinking, omg, there is something so positive about these guys. They were also so kind to my 4 year old, who is super shy. They looked at him and told him the deals, which I appreciate cuz he is so picky about going to places. So, the fact that my son allowed us to come back and sit inside speaks volumes.
The food is good! I love the carnitas. They have such a great deal - unlimited tacos deal!
Parking: tons nearby for free
Service: amazing! They make me want to come back! I told a bunch of friends about this place!!
Overall: I really...
