I decided to check For the Win Montebello last night, National Cheeseburger Day, and i had a great time. Just like the other for the Win locations that I've been to, it was a great place to meet with friends, or sit by myself at. For the Win Montebello is located inside of a building called Blvd. Market that has For the win, a pizza place, and a bar inside. Good service and very clean place. There is both an indoor seating area and an outdoors seating area. When I received my bacon smashburger and woth cheese and sweet potato fries I noticed that the packaging was high quality and had a nice, modern, and artsy design. The smashburger and fries were also at a bite for bite non-stop. Great quality ingredients. Local news station KTLA 5 did a news segment on For the Win saying its the best cheeseburger in Callifornia, echoing the loving sentiments of yelp.com and the Los Angeles Times. Inspiring me to dress up a smashburger with grocery store bought items: leaf lettuce, tomato, avocado, and red onion. I'll be back for more For the Win. Im going to check out the other locations and soak up the sights to see as I walk around the interesting shop and bar lined areas...For the Win Montebello is located on a shop and bar lined stretch of historic lowriding...
Read moreOkay I'll admit that I walked up at 9:00 on the nose but there was already a handwritten sign saying closed till tomorrow at 11:00. The girl looked at me and she had a look on her face like oh crap. She then said something to the chef which I didn't hear and then she shook her head and said sorry we're closed. And then I say well it's supposed to be 9:30 and she says no sorry we close at 9:00. Look if you close at 9:30 and you post it online you should stay open till 9:30. I get it's a holiday weekend and yes the place was packed but I saw a group of three kids order one minute before me before I walked in. So is the food good I don't know? The service sucks and the atmosphere sucks so maybe I dodged a bullet. Do better "for the win" please. Right now it should be called...
Read moreThis is what happens when you introduce something different and exciting to a city thats riddled with ghetto people, I think the bad reviews are from the locals who are use to their own local burger places like double z and arry's and ftw is too much for them, my experience was a good one and the cheeseburger was very tasty, I wish their menu had more selection like their other locations but I think theyre realizing theyre not a good fit in a town who are use to frozen watered down, ordered in bulk patties burger...
