Benihana Monterey — Restaurant in Monterey

I was along the pier area on Friday afternoon looking for dinner then I stumbled upon his benihanas. We walked in around 8:50 PM. After going to the front counter, I asked the wait time for two people. They said it would be about 5/10 minutes. We got seated promptly. The inside is average just like every other Benihana but it was SOOO hot inside there as soon as you pass the bathrooms. After being seated a young woman brought us menus and asked for our beverages. After waiting about 15 minutes, the cook came out. I ordered the BENIHANA TRIO, which consisted of Filet mignon, colossal shrimp and chicken breast grilled with lemon $54. I like going to Beni’s for the show. There was no-show here. The only thing our chef did was the onion tower with the fire that was it. He also rushed the whole thing. The one thing that I really did not like was that the chef came to the table, he even repeated everybody’s orders. My chicken was super dry and taste less. It did not have any flavor nor seasoning to it. As the chef made everyone’s orderI did not get my shrimp. Once he was done cooking everything he then realized that he never brought the shrimp. After I was almost done eating, they finally brought four pieces of shrimp that were not cooked in front of me, but in the back. I’m not sure why they even brought them anymore if I was already almost done with the food, they should’ve just asked me if I wanted them or took them off the tab. My order also is supposed to come with an Ice Cream that I was also not offered lol. This has been my worst experience at a Benihanas. I had high expectations for the location it was in but it was a total fail. I will never go back to...

I still am shaking my head over this. I was SO excited for this dinner we were celebrating my graduation. Parking was terrible so I sent my mom in to get seated. A few minutes later, I arrived and met Mom in the lobby. The hostess sat us. I was even more excited. 5 minutes passed, then 10. The waitress arrived to take our drink orders. I asked how long until the rest of the table would be seated so we could get started on a fun dinner. Instead, she took our dinner orders and when she left, a server's helper cleared the rest of the plates off the table. We were left alone for the entire dinner. They stacked the plates at the end of the table and I just stared at the table, certain there was so sort of mix up and trying to figure out what was going on. Soon the chef came to the table and began prepping our dinner. He was great, but it was awkward and sad. After dinner the waitress brought us 3 dishes of ice cream and took 2 photos for us (terrible) She said they both were "no charge." As if it couldn't get worse, when I saw my charge for dinner on my Chase debit card, it was $30 more than I had authorized and signed the check for. We tipped in cash, so I knew that wasn't it. They had actually charged me for the "no charge" items. Never again. I am so beyond...

We went to celebrate my sister's bithday hopeing for an unforgetable dinner.. Unforgetable yes not the way we were expecting. First took 30 minutes after ordering drinks to receive them by the time another waitress brought them the wiskey was watered down three drinks were missing and like the whiskey everything else was watered do to the ice melting. We sat down about 8:45 and didn't get a chef till 10 then the table across us sat down and had a chef in thirty minutes. The waitress was unatentive and didn't listen when I told her I wanted something different to drink and brought the same thing out to me I drank it trying to be polite and missed the bar do to the fact they close at 10 when we were barely being served. Yes the food was great and the cook was awsome. Mangment said they would take care of us but ended up seperating everyone's bill so taxes were charged to everyone and the discount they had giving for bad service was almost none noticeable.. Overall we will most likely will not be returning wish I would had taken her to Bubba...
