Ordered takeout (pickup) here tonight and it was decent! I don't know if it's my favorite yet, we just moved to the area from Philly not long ago and are shopping around still. :)
We ordered the vegetable dumpling (not gyoza, not soup, literally "vegetable dumpling"), kids (sweet) chicken meal, beef pad thai for me, and pork lo mein for husband.
I'm personally not a fan of the style of dumpling we got so I probably shouldn't comment on them as it wouldn't be fair. I'd try their gyoza or soup dumplings in the future. Husband liked them. They did have a LOT of vegetable filling and seemed like a good portion size.
Kids chicken was dry, but that could have just been from picking it up and taking it out. It's the tempura chicken basically in BIG nugget form (again, good portion size in my opinion) with sweet and sour sauce on the side, I believe. If it had been smothered in the sauce it may not have arrived dry but I'm glad the sauce was on the side as we weren't sure my kiddo would like it (toddler-approved!). Not complaining. It came with a side of broccoli and a side of pineapple. Pineapple may have been canned, not sure, and not that kids typically mind anyway. For a $10 kids meal though, I'd have liked it to come with a scoop of ice cream like we've seen at other local restaurants (albeit not necessarily Asian restaurants), and maybe that's something they could do in the future to cater to families. I am usually suckered into ordering my own dessert whenever my kid's meal comes with one because I know she will not share much with me. Free business tip for ya. ;)
My pad thai was great. A little peppery and I'd have loved a lime wedge on it like I'd typically get in Philly, but it had SO many vegetables and they were so crisp and perfectly cooked, not mushy. A lot of places will just slap a handful of bean sprouts on top and call it a day on the veggie front in their pad Thai, but no, not this place! Actual chopped peanuts on top. Light on sauce, but flavorful. It felt healthy almost? I was impressed with it, just would've loved the lime wedge on the side that I've grown accustomed to, to really punch it up.
Husband's lo mein equally felt healthier than typical Chinese takeout -- light on sauce but still decently flavorful and with a good ratio of meat and veggie to noodle.
For folks claiming it's overpriced, etc. I'd say for one: inflation, fam. Secondly: this place does NOT skimp on vegetables and I love that and fresh veggies frankly are expensive. Third: I'm still gonna recommend you include dessert in that kid's meal price but that's my only cost complaint.
I'd try more stuff from here, for sure. My husband said the restaurant was super clean inside when he went to pick up, so I'd probably go in person for the full experience next time. We just needed quick and easy tonight and wanted to spend more time outdoors before dinner.
No photos because we were...
Read moreFOOD: The beef broth has no flavor. It was basically just hot water. With all the vegetables added to it, the broth only became diluted and lost flavor even more. I ended up not eating any of it, and the manager kindly took it off our bill. The pork soup dumplings were okay but unmemorable.
VIBE: This restaurant’s concept is strange. The atmosphere they’ve created is more appropriate for a spa. Instead of dining-appropriate music, you’ll hear birds chirping (quite loudly) and sounds of water streaming.
MENU: They have only a handful of menu items that are actually dim sum, which was disappointing. The only dim sum item that was appealing to us was the pork soup dumplings. It appears that the items they want to sell the most are the noodles where they’ve pre-chosen all the ingredients for you, but they also have a conveyor belt (like a rotating sushi bar) that brings random ingredients to your table. Also, the menu design is awful. Very confusing. It’s obvious that someone tried their best in Canva but they should have invested in a professional designer.
SERVICE: When you order one of the pre-created noodles, they will bring out a platter with all the ingredients separated and then they will plop everything in your soup in front of you. It seemed like a waste of time to have an employee do this instead of just bringing out the noodles fully prepared from the kitchen. Not sure why they are going for like a K-BBQ-service style. And having the noodles cook in front of me adds no value to the food — unless of course you order a make-your-own and cook it as you go like shabu shabu, but if not, there is no point. The cooker at the table is also too deep, and the tongs they provide don’t work well to pick up the contents of the soup. The whole experience was just strange and didn’t make sense. At a good restaurant, you can sense that decisions were made thoughtfully and intentionally. This is not one of those restaurants. In terms of the staff, everyone is nice but it felt like they were still in training.
Needless to say, we were curious about this place but we've seen enough and won't...
Read moreI was not sure what to expect coming here. My husband and I came during the soft opening week. The restaurant has an interesting name that describes exactly what they have to offer. However, the restaurant is mostly dim sum and hot pot. The noodle aspect is part of the hot pot, not in terms of noodle soup. I was surprised seeing a conveyor belt for some of the hot pot items and appetizers coming around. We got the triple delight soup with udon noodles. The broth was a creamy instant noodle-like broth. It was okay. We also ordered some dim sum items. They were delicious. However, the portion was smaller than what I'm used to for dim sum.
The service was very friendly and prompt. The decoration was interesting. There was a big flat screen tv that played relaxing landscape videos, a fish tank and spa music with birds chirping. It was different, we weren't expecting that for a restaurant. There were also claw machines at the front.
The a la carte hot pot is okay, but it could use more selections, especially since nearby we have Volcano Hot Pot which is all you can eat. As for dim sum, Dim Sum Factory has way more options. This restaurant might do better as a tapas kind of place with dim sum and Asian fusion items plus a small sample of noodle soup items like ramen and wonton soup or something. The restaurant offers hot pot, noodles and dim sum per their name. However, they are not offering anything new that the area doesn't...
