ON MY LAST WING! I was motivated to visit this establishment following a TikTok post. However, the initial warning sign was the fact that their opening hours were 11:00am, upon my arrival, the staff member outside was on a phone call, stating that they opened at 11:30am. I remained patient... Upon entering, I noticed guests waiting ahead of me and as I proceeded to place my order, the line lengthened. I felt assured in my decision. There was merely one register operational, with a single individual managing orders. Upon placing my order, I proceeded to collect my beverage, only to observe that the beverage/ice dispenser was devoid of ice. Consequently, I made my drink selection waited for my order. During my wait, I observed a staff member retrieving ice from a bucket equipped with a short handle scoop, which was situated near the beverage/ice dispenser that I had just vacated. Subsequently, I observed multiple patrons retrieving ice from the same container without gloves, prior to a customer inquiring about the staff's statement of ice shortage. I also observed discrepancies in order processing. One patron waited for their order, only to be informed that they lacked records of their order, and were offered a refund. This occurred after she produced a receipt, she was the second customer in line. Upon receiving my order, I was subsequently informed that egg rolls were out, and was offered a refund or alternative. I inquired about the expected duration for receiving a refund, given that there is only one register. The associate responded that she was unaware of the timeframe, so I decided to accept a substitution of collard greens, which were unexpectedly excellent. Upon placing my order and standing before the registered, I overheard the kitchen staff informing the individual at the register that they were out of eggrolls. I presumed they had fulfilled my order, however, I was mistaken. It would have been prudent to void that item from my order. Upon receiving my order, I hastily made my way to my vehicle, only to be disheartened. The okras were fried in their entirety and bore a strong resemblance to pickles, which I have a strong aversion to.The chicken wasn't much better, I could have simply got some wings from Church's and soaked them in Tabasco hot sauce and been satisfied! Waste of time and money. 0/ 10 I DO NOT RECOMMEND!
While this location holds significant potential, I anticipated greater outcomes. Despite my experience, I remain optimistic that the necessary adjustments will be implemented, leading to its...
Read moreVisited twice during the first week of operation since this town hasn’t had a hot chicken restaurant in the past few years, we were really excited when Eugene’s opened.
First visit was great. Manager was out an about checking on people, service was quick, food was good. Got the sandwich with medium heat, and fries. Overall the meal was great, especially for the price. The heat level was perfect and the fries were well cooked.
Second visit I brought my family along later in the first week of operation. I got the same sandwich and fries. This time the sandwich was 2 1/2 tenders instead of a chicken breast, and the fries were different. Understandable honestly, probably growing pains from the first week of being open and running low/out of stock of things. Still got roughly the same amount of chicken, but the fries were subpar this time. Biggest difference was the manager wasn’t out and about checking on guests, and the rest of the employees didn’t seem to care as much. Ice dispenser was jammed, no sweet tea, out of napkins, and dirty table, but each time I asked someone for assistance, it was some other employees problem to fix and not theirs.
Overall if the food quality keeps with how it was on the first few days of opening, I’ll definitely be back, but the service is definitely going to make or break it...
Read moreThe chicken itself was super tender and flavorful, although it was more grease then I prefer. I got the chicken sandwich, and they didnt give me a breast, but instead three tenders kinda just piled on top of bread. The grease and wet rub kinda just soaked the bun instantly so i ate it without the bun. The chicken was really good and so was the pickled fried okra. I tried my friend’s french fries and thought they were undercooked, so idk about those. Our food took a bit long to come out, like just two simple orders took them about 25 minutes with only four other people in the restaurant. I observed at least three workers that just weren’t even in the kitchen and instead just sitting on their phone or chatting, with one guy in the back seeming also very unrushed. I get that a business is a business, but idk about charging 85 cents for an extra tiny container of sauce that I got (this includes ketchup too). Their soda fountain had no ice, and I overall dont think it’s worth what i paid for. It’s good...
