My husband and I are always looking for places new to eat so when we heard about this place we said “let’s go!”. Of course before we went last night we read the reviews and we had very high hopes when about 95% of the reviews are fantastic. I don’t where these other people were eating but we did not have nearly the quality meal that these other people had. Honestly, we could have made a better meal at home. Being a Tuesday night, and not a very busy night it wouldn’t be that hard to make a good meal for only two people. Not the case for us! I do have to say our server (unfortunately, I did not get her name) was awesome! But other than that, (oh besides the biscuit appetizer which was just ok) everything else was either burnt or nothing to write home about. For drinks my husband had a “handcrafted lemonade”, which had zero flavor, and I had a “revenge of the pink panther”, and first I was brought the wrong drink… ok no big deal, it happens, but then it took forever to get the right one and when it finally did arrive I found out that they had made the wrong one again, they had made the version with alcohol in it, I don’t drink, that would be why I ordered the mocktail version. So by the time I got it it had been made 3 times, and maybe it’s just me, but by the name I figured it would be pink, but it was yellow and it had so much grapefruit juice in it, I could barely drink it. Now on to the entrees…. I ordered the chocolate pancakes, which actually turned out to be chocolate chip pancakes, and my husband had the Biscuit Benedict with sausage. My pancakes looked great when they came out even though I was actually expecting chocolate pancakes, not chocolate chip pancakes…. Until I went to butter the bottom pancake and found that it was burnt to a crisp. How do you burn pancakes? And how can you even serve that to someone? And place it on the bottom trying to hide it? SERIOUSLY? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Now my husband biscuits were also burnt! There were MAYBE 5 tables! And we waited a good half our AFTER finishing our appetizer before receiving our entrees. And THEY’RE BURNT! Both dishes were remade, however when we received them mine was lukewarm, the top pancake was undercooked and the other two were over cooked. There were not nearly as many chocolate chips and the powdered sugar was non existent, and my husbands looked like something that was made from ingredients from Stop & Shop. The sausage was sausage links cut in half, the biscuits were not nearly as god as the appetizer ones which were just ok, the hollandaise sauce was congealed, and the hash browns looks liked ones you could find in the freezer section. He said the only good thing on the plate was the eggs. Needless to say we will not...
Read moreLet me start by saying how excited I was to try The Shed at Mohegan Sun. Brunch is my absolute favorite. I had been talking up this place to my husband since it opened.
Let me start with the two positives. First, it a beautiful place. I love how it’s tastefully decorated. Second, I ordered the Bloody Mary. It was great and the garnish was delicious.
Now for unfortunately a long list of negatives. Right upon entry, the host didn’t seem welcoming at all. He didn’t make eye contact at all. Rather, stared at his iPad and sounded annoyed when asking, how many? He walked fast and almost lost our party of four as he walked to the back of the restaurant. And pointed and walked quickly away.
We sat and waited to be greeted for fifteen minutes. I nearly and probably should have walked out then. We watched several tables who came in after us (they got the quick walk and pointing host too mind you) get greeted before us.
When our server came to the table, she didn’t greet us at all, didn’t give us her name or walk us through the menu, she lead by, “What can I get you to drink?”
Our food came out before our drinks. When the food runner brought my biscuit Benedict to the table, one of my “poached eggs” slid onto my daughter’s French toast. Rather than getting me a new one, he motioned with his hand to have my husband transfer it back to my plate.
My eggs were over-hard when they should have been over-easy. All four dishes were lukewarm. It came out so fast, there wasn’t any way that it was cooked to order. It likely was premade and left in the warmer. I questioned how the egg should be made to the server. She acknowledged it was wrong. She offered to have another made but honestly I was so annoyed I just wanted to finish and get going.
The kicker was my daughter finding two short hairs in her French toast. She picked both out of her mouth. I told the server and she apologized and sent the manager over. He took the French Toast off the bill.
With all of this, our bill was still $100 and 100% not worth it.
I’m so disappointed and will...
Read moreI have eaten at the Shed twice and sorry I was there at all but decided to give them a second chance . BIG MISTAKE!! On our first trip we ordered a BLT sandwich. The bacon was burnt and hard as a rock to chew and the bread over toasted. I could not find the waiter to return it, and when he finally showed up and brought me another BLT, it was just as bad. While we were the only people in the restaurant at that time, the waiter was very slow and could not be found to report the problem with the meal. He disappeared into the rear of the restaurant. On my second visit I ordered a Belgian waffle, which was very doughy and undercooked and soggy. I could only eat half of it, if even that much. When ordering drinks, I asked the waiter ( who had a smirky attitude ) for a regular iced tea he told me. they were out of tea bags to make iced tea and I couldn’t order one.He looked at me and shrugged and then said “don’t shoot the messenger”. What kind of a restaurant runs out of teabags? Again, the service was very slow, even though I noticed only four other customers in the restaurant. Also on both visits the staff disappears into a back area, which I think is the kitchen, and can’t be found. When the time came for us to get the check, it took way too long to get the waiter’s attention to get the check, and then when we paid by credit card for this horrific experience, it was much too long of a wait to get our credit card back and leave!! We definitely will not be returning to this poor excuse for a restaurant. Mohegan Sun has a lot of good restaurants and I have eaten in many of them, but I have to say in my opinion this one is the just terrible. Stay away...
