To preface, as someone who works in the food industry, I can let a lot of stuff go. I think most of the time, I try to be as passive as possible, and realize we often get upset at the wrong people for our issues when we’re at restaurants. I understand the environment can be tough to work in, and I’m pretty indifferent most of the time when issues arise.
HOWEVER, this was pretty much the last straw for me.
Out of the last 4 times I’ve been here, only one of them was even remotely pleasant, and even then we just got car-side to-go, and the guy bringing us our food repeatedly forgot items we had paid for, such as drinks and extra sauces. The other 3 times all ranged from incredibly bad to infuriating.
The first time I was given a raw chicken sandwich, and since have refused to ever get chicken here, as I was told by my server that I must’ve just, “got a bad cut of chicken,” when it was visibly silver when I bit into it.
The second time was when me and a former partner got car-side to-go, and we waited an additional 30 minutes for them to come out again after asking for our name. They only bothered to come out and tell us the order was messed up and they had to remake part of it AFTER seeing me come out of my car, because at that point I figured SOMEONE would’ve come out to say something. I’m not so much mad at the wait as I am the fact that nobody would come out and just simply say the order was messed up, as at that point two problems arose instead of one.
This fourth time (the third was the mentioned earlier), was basically the final straw. One of the worst services I’ve ever had, for one, and again I rarely ever complain about service. The drink was wrong (Unsweetened Tea instead of Sweet Tea), which is whatever, it happens all the time anywhere you go so I’m used to it. Then when my food came out, I questioned her if I got the right burger, because I was under the impression that the Big Bangin Burger didn’t have bacon. I’m not necessarily complaining about the bacon, but the fact that my server told me I was wrong and that I simply got the order wrong. I’ve since looked up the Big Bangin Burger online, and from what I can see, it does NOT come with bacon. On top of already being told I was apparently in the wrong, when I asked if the burger had the sauce on it (as frankly I didn’t see any and just asked to get a side cup to put it on myself), she flat out told me yet again I was wrong and that she could see it for herself on the burger. To her credit, there was some on it, but given I didn’t even know if my order was right to begin with, I couldn’t honestly tell, and just assumed it was something else. She ran past my table several times, never asked if I wanted more fries or anything else (except once towards the end when I wasn’t touching my food because I really needed more napkins lol), and towards the end of my experience, she did one of the most unprofessional things I’ve ever seen by gossiping about other customers with the table in front of me, and even sat down with them for a solid 10-ish minutes or so, when I was already finished and waiting to be given a check. At that point I was pretty peeved off, so I just paid on the tablet and took off (hope I did it right lol). Frankly if I knew her name I would’ve said something in the review after paying, but I was so annoyed I just didn’t care to say anything there and didn’t bother asking.
I cannot stress enough what a nosedive this place has taken. I’m from this town and vividly remember loving Applebees as a kid, and it’s become a running joke with my friends that during the Unlimited Boneless Wings deal, I’m always here. But at this point I just cannot willingly go here on my own anymore. The food itself is sort of whatever (various minor problems and the raw chicken especially lol), but the service ranges from very great to downright horrible.
Really hoping my inevitable next time here with...
Read moreWe have avoided Applebee's for many years due to bad experience years ago at a different Applebee's. Last night we decided it was time for a new try. Stopped in, and was greeted by a young WVU student, Mallory, who stayed to work over Christmas instead of going home. She sat us down and took our drink order. We were in no hurry to order our meal just yet, we just wanted to unwind first after a long flight. Our drinks arrived back at the table within a few minutes. They were prepared perfectly. The waitress was extremely pleasant, and after a couple drinks, we ordered food. We were never rushed or interrupted. We ask her if we could order now. As pleasant as always, she answered our questions and took our order. We ordered our meals and when she served them to us, they were prepared exactly as we had ask. My Ribeye was seasoned excellently and cooked perfectly medium rare, and my wife's Bourbon Street chicken and shrimp was prepared exactly as she had hoped. We were both pleasanty surprised by the food and attentiveness of our waitress. When we were done eating, I ask if we could speak to the manager. She kinda looked at me with a perplexed look but immediately went and ask him to stop by our table. He introduced himself and was extremely polite. He ask if we had a problem and we said no, just the opposite. I explained about how pleased and surprised we were with our waitress and the quality of our meal. He was very thankful and said that our waitress Mallory thought she had done something wrong because we had ask for him. We laughed and told him to make sure he told her we ask so we could compliment him on the service and food. Mallory comes back to the table smiling as she had throughout the evening. I apologized for scaring her and we had a good laugh. Very seldom have I ever ask to speak to a manager or take time for a review. The food was delicious and Mallory was one of the friendliest and most efficient waitresses I have ever had the pleasure to meet. I hope her time there before graduating and moving on is appreciated. If you go there and are lucky, maybe besides a great meal, you will get to have the pleasure of having her as your...
Read moreMy experience dining at this Applebee's made me decide to never go back to ANY Applebee's ever. Me and my daughter got there while it wasn't busy at all. Nobody greeted us upon arrival. I had to flag someone down and ask if we seat ourselves. I saw an empty table I wanted and asked if we could sit there. She said it was a bit crowded in that section, but it wasn't. She sat us somewhere less desirable. I asked if we could move to the table I wanted originally because it was way more crowded where she sat us instead. She said that the server for that table was on break and that's why she lied about the reason she sat us somewhere else. When I looked back, I noticed she sat someone else at the table I wanted. We were ignored while everybody around us was being waited on and checked in on. We were finally allowed to order. Almost an hour later we got our food. The steak had a weird texture and color for medium rare. The broccoli was overcooked, and the salad I ordered came at the same time the entre came. Again we were ignored for over 30 mins. I had to flag someone down to ask for another root beer for my daughter, another thimble full of salad dressing, and 2 to- go boxes. The blue cheese dressing I ordered tasted like raspberry vinaigrette. It wasn't until someone saw that I didn't leave a tip that someone came to ask if everything was alright. By then the damage was done. The food ultimately gave me diarrhea. It really made me appreciate the McDonalds dinner we had the night before. Out of all the money I spent on this trip, Applebee's was my worst experience and biggest regret. The best thing about this restaurant was the use of the restroom after our big bus tour. I highly recommend NOBODY waste their money or meter time at...
