OH MY GAWD!!!!! I don't know if there is enough room on this review form to talk about how F'ING AMAZING this place is!!!! Let’s talk about it! Four friends decided to take an hour roadtrip to give this place a try. DID NOT DISAPPOINT AT ALL!!!! Cute place, with its white brick facade, and garage door to open the dining room to the outside. It is a little noisy because of the street (e.g., fire trucks passed by), but wasn’t terrible. The restaurant is a BYO, so we had brought some wine with us. We had heard amazing things about the bread, like garlic knots and Ukrainian Garlic Bread, but unfortunately they were already sold out for the day (because it’s made fresh everyday!!!). We decided to start with the Pear Walnut Gorgonzola salad with a balsamic vinaigrette. Fresh, light, dressing had great flavor, perfect intro! Next we had the Meatball/Ricotta round pizza and the White (whole) Tomato Garlic square pizza. SOOOOOO GOOD!!! Crust is impeccable!! And the flavor and thickness of the crust was varied, which was a really nice surprise!! Plenty of toppings, the flavors are outstanding, the slices were heavy, but you didn’t feel heavy after you ate it. They were made really well, probably one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had. But the desserts, geez the desserts!! OK, let's get into THIS. The dessert case has so much to offer!!! I don’t even know if I should call it a dessert case because there was so much more than just dessert. There were so many wonderful things to try, but I was pleasantly full from the pizza and wine, I landed on the pistachio bambolone, which is kinda like a filled donut with pistachio crème. HOLY FRICKEN MOLY!!!! DEVOURED in seconds!!!! But don’t misunderstand, this isn’t just a donut. It’s like, THE BEST donut!! It’s moist, filled to the brim with crème, airy, light, and it just makes you happy!! After that, I wanted to start trying everything, but there was absolutely no more room in my belly. I ended up with a very large to-go box with a lot of the other stuff that I cannot wait to sample tomorrow (aka eat in one or two sittings)!!!! I grabbed a couple of their croissants (plain, Nutella stuffed, chocolate filled, and vanilla almond), some of the other bambolone flavors that were available (strawberry, lemon, and vanilla bean), some cinnamon buns that looked unique and amazing, and a very large chocolate chip cookie! Posted my to-go box in the pictures section!
If you have any questions or doubts of how great this place is, DO NOT DELAY, go there now and see for...
Read moreResponse the the owner: you need to make it more clear that they are not waiters and remove the tip screen when people are paying for just counter service. Plus, the people who work the counter seem miserable. It is unclear that it is counter service, but it IS clear you have an overinflated ego based on your inability to handle criticism
Pizza and breakfast sandwiches are good (the bread for the sandwiches is absolutely delicious), but honestly, I'd recommend just ordering pick up if you decide to come here.
The waitstaff is unhelpful/borderline rude, and you have to prepay and tip before your meal, so it feels like you are tipping in advance to pretty much be ignored the entire time. I totally understand that places get busy and do not expect waitstaff to wait on me hand and foot (I've been a waitress myself and understand), but I do not expect to have to ask people to clear empty plates from the table. Plus, it was not even busy when we were there.
Also, my mom ordered the chicken Parm and it does not come with pasta or bread (it's $19 so wtf??), so when my mom got her order, I asked a waiter if she could get an order of pasta (we were already in the middle of our meal since we had ordered apps/pizza in addition to the chicken parm), and I was told to go to the counter and order it. Idk if they have had issues with dine and dashers, but it was annoying to have to get up in the middle of eating and order instead of just being able to order it at the table and pay after the meal. And the additional pasta order was $12, so this ended up being the most expensive chicken parm I've ever bought, coming in at $31.
PLUS, the pasta was ice cold by the time we got it (which I had to go up the counter to ask about, since it was taking a very long time to come out). It came out as soon as I asked about it, so the pasta was definitely forgotten about.
After reading the owners responses to negative reviews, it's clear they have issues with constructive criticism, so I am fully expecting a semi-snarky response to this review. Maybe hire a PR firm to handle your review...
Read moreMy family and I were excited to try this place as we live locally and LOVE pizza. We will NOT be returning after the rude encounter we had with the obnoxious owner, Nino. His pizza was decent, but does not come close to making up for his rudeness and arrogance. In reading through reviews on this page, this seems to be a trend here. While I was placing my order with a perfectly pleasant college-aged staffer, I was asking to have my pie made 1/2 peppers & 1/2 meatball. The owner overheard and abruptly interrupted with, "Nah, Nah......only pepperoni!" Not understanding what he was trying to say, I asked for clarification and he told me that they make 1/2 topping pies with pepperoni ONLY!!! Whaaaattttt?!!! I asked again to be clear: "So I can't order a pie with a topping on 1/2 UNLESS it's pepperoni?!" He responded with, "I know it may LOOK dead in here to you (the place was 3/4 empty) but do you see how many pizzas I got in that oven? I can't be putting in special orders like that.....All it's gonna take is for one guy back there to mess one thing up and then everything's ruined." Again.... Whaaaattttt?!!!!! I told him that I'd never had a pizzeria tell me before that they couldn't make a pie with half one topping and half another and that if that's how they do things there at Coniglios, we likely wouldn't be back. He threw his arms up in the air like "Oh well!" and sarcastically gestured to his toward his oven full of pies as though he didn't need my business. Wow! A lovely woman named Josephine checked on my family and I later on. I relayed the experience to her and she apologized profusely. She confirmed that Nino was in fact the owner and said she was shocked by what had transpired. She couldn't have been nicer or more apologetic. Nino, on the other hand, made his rounds throughout the place for the duration of our time there, schmoozing with the regulars to check on things while avoiding our table altogether. Just before we stood up to leave he asked, "You good?" to which we answered, "Yep" for the sake of saving us all another...
