I first came to know about this restaurant through reviews in a local group. The name, menu, and concept really had my interest since I miss the south indian breakfast places in Mumbai and hadn’t found one that meet expectations.
I was surprised that this new spot exceeded our expectations. We decided to try it on the Friday before Memorial day weekend; the place was packed at 8 pm and we had to wait for 15 mins. The place is well spaced out with a casual feel.
We ordered afghani paneer tikka, bonda soup, paneer lababdaar (recommended by staff), tandoori roti. All dishes had minimal oil which is a huge plus and something I truly appreciate when dining out.
Afghani tikka: Paneer was soft and dish had the right flavors. Veggies were fresh and chutney flavorful. The marination could have been better but we liked it overall.
Bonda Soup: Our fav dish of the night. Bonda had lots of pepper, coconut, and softness. However, the soup/daal took away the award for best flavors. Definitely ordering it again.
Paneer lababdar: Less cream, balanced flavor, and generous portion. I loved that it is not your template paneer tikka
Tandoori rotis were perfectly done and soft.
Their quantities are great. Also this is a pure veg restaurant. I look forward to trying their breakfast menu and would surely be returning here!
Thank you to their staff for excellent customer service especially the gentleman who served our table!
Week2: Tried Mangalore bajji which was delicious and the green chutney took me back to India. Paneer butter masala was good. Highlight of the evening was their dessert called Coconut Garden. It is defines what wonders a perfect fusion dessert can work on your senses. Layers of coconut dry fruit base, pannacota, and cream topped with chocolate art...
Read moreI tried to go this place 3 times earlier. Twice with my parents and once with my son. We returned all 3 times due to long wait times. Today I finally made it by myself to enjoy the food as I was passing by the restaurant. I asked for a table and the a waiter loudly said, table only for one. After I was offered a table and another waiter came and asked me “are you alone?” I said yes. After delivering water and silver, I was given a menu where in 5 mins I ordered food for 2 items. One item was offered after fair amount of wait. I was waiting for my second item to come.. meanwhile I was asked twice to check out as the restaurant was about to close. I was upset with the second waiter when asked to check out. Pity that the waiters were not even aware that my second order didn’t come. They didn’t even bother to check their order list. On top of it, the same item I was waiting for was given to another table who happened to arrive later than me. I noticed a waiter telling to another waiter that they forgot my order. By this time it was already about 35-40 mins I checked into the restaurant. I quietly checked out saying that I don’t want second item. The waiter didn’t apologize or even didn’t even tried to convince me as they know the mistake they made. I will never visit this restaurant due to its lack of customer service and laziness of work that these waiters are creating for the ambience. Also, the first item that I ate is not even great despite the price and quantity of the food. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Not worth the wait...
Read moreA Taste of Authentic South India in RTP - BLR Hits the Spot!
We've been craving authentic South Indian cuisine since moving to the RTP area, and thanks to a cousin's recommendation, we discovered BLR. We visited on a bustling Friday evening, but were seated promptly within 5 minutes. The aroma of delicious food wafting through the air promised a fantastic dining experience.
The menu offered a wide variety of options, but we opted for some classics: paper dosa, onion uttappa, masala dosa, idli wada, and filter coffee. Each dish was expertly prepared and presented. The green chutney was a standout - tangy, flavorful and with enough tadka. The dosa batter was fermented to perfection, a clear indication of the chef's expertise.
What truly impressed us was the benne dosa, a Karnataka specialty rarely found in the USA. BLR's version was spot on! And the filter coffee? It transported us back to India - strong, rich, bold, and utterly delightful.
The only thing bothered us was lack of crispiness on both ends of both paper dosas we ordered. It was perfect otherwise.
If you're a fan of authentic Karnataka-style dosas, look no further than BLR. The flavors, textures, and aromas will transport you to the streets of Bengaluru. We can't wait to return and explore more of the menu. Five stars and a huge...
