Shine Cafe — Restaurant in Morro Bay

Matty or Mattie has an attitude. Our first time here. Came from santa cruz to eat with my husband and small dog. When we arrived we walked in trying to find out how and where to order. He blows past me telling me" if your dog is not a service dog then you have to go outside. "She is a service dog" I say He rolls his eyes and then proceeds to tell me that dogs are getting out of hand at the restaurant. I don't mind eating outside with my animal just trying to find where to order. I asked if I could get a menu, he huffed there's one inside and one outside and walked away. We ordered to go. I would have left and not spent my money here. Being vegans and this being the only spot close to our hotel we just ate it. Seems busy, maybe they are only nice to locals or don't care because they are a niche restraunt. I am a restaurant owner and I would never let employees make customers feel like that. Since there are no signs addressing this issue of service dogs and it seems to be getting out of hand according to Mattie, you should have a bit more patience when new customers navigate the establishment. The bagel and smoothie were fine just a hint...

Completely vegan. This is not my first visit to Shine Cafe. Good/friendly customer service(every visit so far). The food that I have tried has been good.

I would like to see some more Asian themed recipes and Indian inspired cuisines.

This visit I tried the "pack a box"(the menu calls it pack a bowl) can also be ordered as a "pack a burrito." It taste good and looks good. I ordered mine with spinach, tomatoes, carrots, cucumber, quinoa, black beans, cabbage, jack fruit, tempeh, avocadodo, kale, & cilantro dressing. All of the veggies are very fresh, and the beans, jack fruit, quinoa, & tempeh are good as well, and also freshly prepared.

I gave 3-⭐ because, I can only give an overall review. In my opinion, the food that I have tried (all visits) & service are 5-⭐

Oh. And all of the portion sizes are enough food for two people or...

I used to come here a lot for friendly staff and delicious food. But I came back last weekend twice and I was disappointed both times. Service was unfriendly and rude. Cashiers didn’t say “Hi” or “What can I get for you?”, not a word coming from their mouth, they just stare with no communication. I said “Hi”, they didn’t respond, just stood and stared at me with blank face. Then I thought to myself “can I start ordering?” and ordered “for here”. I was waiting outside for so long, then went inside to ask about my order and turns out, they made it to go and it was sitting there. All the other times (~20) I came here, they brought the dishes out to the table. Writing a bad review for this place is the last thing I want to do… I don’t know what changed,...
