Goldie wanted to get some writing done and we both wanted to try out a new coffee spot. As always, I headed to Yelp to get some recommendations and decided to give Gong Cha a try.
It’s a really cute location. It sits in the strip next to Wendys and has easy access on and off the main road. The establishment is super spacious and very clean. The environment is very neutral and provides for a great multi-optional coffee and date/work/catch up with friends kind of vibe.
The menu has soooooooooo many things to choose from. It's hard to even figure out what flavor profile to try. As this was my first time I cheated and listened to what the lady I. Front of me ordered. LoL! Based on her order I asked her for a recommendation and she told me her fave and her daughters fave. I decided to give the daughters fave a try.
Before I tell you about the taste, let me just say, the visual appeal is AhhhhhMazing!
Brown Sugar Coffee Milk Tea Cold Large Reg Ice Half Brown Sugar (50%) No Topping
I’ll be honest! I have no idea what I ordered but I am glad I ordered it. It puts you in the mindset of Chocolate Milk married to Coffee with a Brown Sugar almost Caramel-ish flavor additive. It was truly a good drink. It wasn’t too simple or too complex. The flavor blends matched well and nothing overpowered anything.
There are a few more options on the menu that I have to try. I will...
Read moreTL;DR If you want an authentic Bobba tea south of Atlanta, this is one of the few options you have.
Interior - Plenty of seating. The place is actually a combination of Kremo Ice Cream and Gong Cha. The owner probably tried to capture two trendy snacks. There are two checkout/order lines. However, the same group of employees works on both sides. You can see them jumping from one side to another to help out during busy times.
Most of the time, there is not much of a wait. Most of the times that I have stopped by, there have never been more than 1/2 parties ahead of me. I stopped by on Halloween, and the place was packed with people. I had to wait for about 10-15 minutes.
Drinks - I have been trying their Brown Sugar Series. Strongly recommend the Oolong tea and adding boba to it. Make sure you shake it well before drinking. The boba on the bottom can be very sweet. I asked for 30 percent sugar and made the mistake of not shaking my drink. You know the ending... Service - Not the best service. I always feel rushed when I tried to look at the menu or while ordering.
Overall, if you are craving boba tea, and you are on the Southside, go for it. Otherwise,...
Read moreFinally, the bubble tea spot this area has been waiting for has arrived. Gong Cha has many locations North of this area, getting there always has to do deal with some traffic. I was surprised to hear when they announced that a location would opening up, I'm so glad it's open for business.
Like many of its other locations, Gong Cha always has a nice aesthic feel to its interior. From the lighting to the furniture, everything feels welcoming and inviting. Bubble tea paired up with Kremo rolled ice cream is a great way to escape the summer heat. Oolong milk tea is a standard recommendation I make to most people who haven't had a chance to try bubble tea before, but the menu is pretty extensive in its selections. Slushes are a good choice, and don't forget to add some toppings as well.
Parking in the rear helps with the limited availability of spaces in the front. It'll be on the right side of the building.
Now I won't have to make as many trips up North when I need a good bubble tea drink. Thanks for bringing Gong Cha...
