I generally don't do the shopping for our family but yesterday was an exception. I walked in the store yesterday evening and it was totally dead. Perfect no big crowds. I push my car around and check the boxes off for the things that I needed. One thing I noticed the selection here is not great. Some things were good and some things not so much.
It was really my exit experience that wasn't great at all. Since I don't do the shopping I'm not very used to how the stuff really works. But I can tell you one thing I really don't like is no human beings to check me out. I can't stand that. I don't work for you why should I pay you and then have to do labor on my own. Not to mention how bad it is for the human economy.
The other thing I noted that really was terrible was I was getting gas and they keep saying that the pumps hoses are long enough to go around your car so it doesn't matter how you go in. This is categorically untrue both for me and the guy who was trying to pull in next to me. Neither of us could pull the pumps around so we did what dudes do and we just turned our cars around. The lady in the box came out almost instantly yelling at us. Threatening that she would have our membership pulled for violating the rules. There was no one else there just me and this other guy. It's not like we were clogging up traffic on a busy Saturday afternoon.
It was at that point that I don't need a Costco membership and a BJ's membership. Today I walked in to cancel my membership and it was a little old lady behind the counter who could have cared less. She rolled her eyes when I told her why I wanted to cancel. No objection, no questions, no save the sale attitude. She handed me my $20 back, My receipt, and a healthy dose of attitude.
No idea why I choose not to shop here anymore. The only reason why they get two stars is because checking out with the app is pretty cool. But again I'm doing...
Read moreBJ's Wholesale Club has become a reliable choice for me as a dad with two young daughters. Here's a breakdown of the pros and cons:
Bulk Buying Basics: BJ's is good for stocking up on essentials like diapers, wipes, and pantry staples. This means fewer grocery trips, which is a plus for busy dads.
App Savings: The BJ's app offers digital coupons that can bring down the price on bulk items. It's worth checking the app before you shop.
Regular Mail Savings: BJ's also sends out coupons through the mail, which can help with overall grocery costs.
Gas Savings: Gas at BJ's is typically cheaper than most stations, which adds up over time.
One-Stop Shopping (Mostly): The quality of their fresh produce and meat is decent, and a single shopping trip can often cover the needs for a whole week. This saves time on multiple grocery store runs.
A Few Things to Consider:
BYOBags: BJ's is all about bulk, so bring your own reusable shopping bags. Cardboard boxes are available, but not exactly ideal with toddlers.
Limited Food Court: Compared to some other warehouse clubs, the BJ's food court has fewer options. The lower membership fee is a positive though.
Overall:
BJ's Wholesale Club is a solid option for dads with young children. It can help save on groceries and gas, and reduces the number of grocery store trips needed. While it might not be the most exciting shopping experience, the practicality and cost savings are undeniable. With some planning and reusable bags, it can be a helpful tool for any parent...
Read moreAs a devoted Costco customer, I decided to give the new BJ's Wholesale store in Mt Juliet a try. We went during the grand opening weekend. Stepping inside, I have to admit I felt right at home! The huge warehouse setup almost made me forget I wasn't in my usual Kirkland wholesale addiction.
Overall, prices seemed very comparable to what I'm used to - nothing outrageous for a membership warehouse store. I found particularly great values on deli, meats, eggs and pantry items. They had a good selection of alcohol as well. I was also impressed with the wide selection of kids' clothing and toys as well as the fresh bakery items and pastries. The bakery had many good looking birthday cake options!
Also thank you for the food samples as I walked around. The crowds were admittedly very large being opening weekend. The parking lot was packed to maximum capacity. Inside was a bit crowded as well but the friendly staff was working hard to assist shoppers.
For my first trip to BJ's, I was pleasantly surprised at the similar offerings and savings I'm used to from my Costco trips. I look forward to coming back and exploring even more that BJ's has to offer shoppers, as I feel like I only hit 20% of the store. Also did get gas and it was priced well in comparison to stations...
