Short story= no communication between desk and stylist, they over-charge, if you're a new customer be prepared to be treated as less important
Long story= I've been to this salon twice now. The first time, I added the 10min scalp massage when I booked the appointment. The stylist, Blake, had no idea I had booked that with my haircut but she was able to make it work. 100% would not recommend. It wasn't 10 minutes and it wasn't a massage, just a prolonged shampoo. I felt bad that she was so busy and she was super friendly. I knew it was because of new staff up front so the fault was not hers. I booked a 2nd appointment a week later to get my hair colored with a toner. It was suggested by her and it seemed like it would satisfy my desire for a bit of color added to my hair. I arrived for my 2nd appointment and she seemed rushed. She took me to the chair to get my hair wet. She quickly added the color and had me sit there with my head in the sink for approx five minutes. She came back, checked it, and said it would be a minute or so more. She rushed off and started working with a different client (cut and style). There was no TV and not knowing I'd be in that position for another 7 or so minutes, I had nothing better to do than watch the time and lay there. She came back, washed the product from my hair, and brought me to her chair. She blow dried my hair and I was done. I went to pay and was surprised the total was $40.00 more than what I was quoted. I asked why and they told me it was for the shampoo and style. I was confused and didn't want to make a scene and ask mote questions so I paid and left. After thinking more about it, I realized they 100% over charged me since I didn't get my hair "styled" and I had washed my hair before my appointment so I'm sure she didn't shampoo mine. I called to tell them about my concern and they said they'd call me back. It was in the afternoon so I had no problem waiting for a call back since they probably had to talk with the hair dresser and confirm what service I had received. No call back. I called a little before closing and was told the person I had talked to on the phone earlier was gone and so was the stylist. They promised to call me the next day. They didn't call me the next day, I had to. In the end, because she had dried my hair (Maybe 5 to 10min max) I was charged the $40.00. The stylist took time from her day to dry my hair so the best they could do was take $25.00 off my bill. That's well and good, but I am still very upset that I'm paying anything for a service I didn't ask for or receive. $40.00 for dry hair is a little steep. I was asked if I had asked Blake to not dry my hair. I mentioned my confusion because I thought she was drying my hair to make sure the color was good. I had no idea she was charging me $40.00 for what I had perceived as something that came along with the service.
Basically, the work is good. No complaints about that. My huge complaint is being charged without my knowledge. For putting the blame on me. For making me feel as though I was intruding on the stylists time to dry my hair. For being an after-thought while she worked on her mother-in-law's hair (yeah, that's the person she was taking care of while my head was in a sink).
Just, be aware that everything comes at a price...no matter how you book your appointment.
I am happy they agreed to give me 25.00 off, but I feel like this would not have happened if I hadn't taken the initiative and called them twice.
Update= they did refund me and left the amount I had originally tipped. Rating reflects this. I am...
Read moreI have to wonder if the reason I'm having issues with this salon is because of the color of my skin. Such a whitewashed place. ALSO TO MY FOREIGN LADIES---- STOP LETTING THESE BECKY'S DO YOUR HAIR. THEY AINT KNOW WHAT THEY DOING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyways.....This was my last visit to Aqua Bella. I hate to say it because I have built a relationship overtime with a few of their stylists. Unfortunately, today I just had enough. I am sick of hair stylists at this salon telling me that they can't work with my hair. I have gone to other salons and they will gladly work with my hair (WITHOUT BLEACH). Whenever I ask if we can go lighter, they adopt a pompous, unaccommodating tone. They aren't willing to spend the time on my hair nor resources. They just shoot me down with "You wouldn't want to do bleach". Oh, I'm so glad you went to night school to be a psychologist too. How do you know I don't want to do bleach? I go to an upscale salon in Green Hills and they will do it for me, without bleach, for $300. And guess what!?!? I'll PAY THEM!!! I was disgusted when I came home from my visit to see that my stylist had let me go home with dye on my face. Not only on the sides, but on my cheek. She was rushed, condescending, and just interested in getting my hair done. She wasn't about making me feel beautiful. And to top it off, the price was outrageous. Over $100 for highlights!? Ok, see ya. At that rate, I would rather pay $300 to go to a classy, high end salon and get what I want. Honestly, I shouldn't be surprised. This was a long time coming; there were signs. A few months back, I got my hair dyed bright ORANGE but was still charged to get it fixed (much like the people are saying in other reviews). Makes me question the integrity of those who run this place. They are after your money and aren't interested in building relationships with customers.
FYI- I'm using my middle name, which I didn't tell you. And I got married- which I didn't tell you. Just wanted to let you know since I know cocky business owners/managers who suck at their job like to say "we don't have anyone in the system with your name" as a way to deflect from the real issue. TOODLES!...
Read moreWhen I called for the appointment they assured me the stylist was experienced. Although she was very nice, she seemed to lack some of the entry level skills, the picture shows the botched cut. She cut in a layer that looked like a shelf, when I mentioned it, she started hacking at my hair with a razor, which should never be used on fine or hair that isnât wet under any circumstances. Called to inform them, manager seemed disinterested.
I have since communicated with the owner through messenger. She wrote â Iâm sorry you donât like your haircutâ. Well, seriously who would like this. I didnât ask for this style, but the issue is that this is hacked to the point of having bare spots, and is just a bad cut. Her solution was to have another of her stylists â go through itâ. I have since really looked through photos of work done by others in this salon, and even the better cuts were really not technically good. So I wrote her asking for a refund and possibly a bit more for the added costs of a few haircuts down the road to make this wearable. Unfortunately nothing can be done now because the hacks go really far up into the hair shaft. So now I have to wear a baseball cap for 6 months. She has not responded nor taken any sort of responsibility for this. One would expect that a salon owner would be aware of the capabilities of her employees. In this instance I would think at least some effort on her part should be made , to resolve the situation, rather than ignoring it. Again, this is not a matter of just not liking the haircut, it is not anywhere near acceptable, shows no evidence of any skill on the part of the stylist, and I would expect the salon owner to be more responsible and step up and show some accountability I have just taken, and added the pictures on the 7th day after the cut, I am more horrified than I was initially. I truly had no idea that it was this bad. In the light you can see most of the hacks. Iâm literally beside myself, still no response from owner.
The photos, for some reason do not appear here but can be viewed in google...
