SNAPSHOT = disappointing service 2 consecutive visits keeps a fifth star out of reach for now - details below. Our beach vacations begin with lunch at Grimaldi's. Pizza has been flawless every time we've been there. "Flawless" - using great pizza in Italy 🇮🇹 and New York City as a point of reference. Start with best-in-class ingredients. Gorgonzola, I would wager, is imported because it does not dominate Quattro Formaggi (4 Cheese Pizza). Crust is light, fired perfectly and can be lunch all by itself. This crust is not dense and is not filling like so many others. Tomato sauce is fresh, simple, light and consistently excellent. Any topping you select is top shelf. You just can't go wrong here. San Pellegrino and Aqua Panna lead the charge for a taste of Italy. Nice wine selection as well Service has been disappointing two times in a row. Last April we ate in the bar. Bartender was our server on a Monday around 2pm. Bar was not busy but there were a couple tables outside for which the bartender was apparently responsible. Service was very slow and bartender seemed notably annoyed that we were even there. Today's visit (06.22.19) started off with much more promise. Morari (unsure of the spelling of this young man's name ) came over to our table shortly after we sat down to take drink orders. Morari is a very personable, welcoming and bright young man. We all requested water and gave our lunch order at the same time. Morari brought our waters. The 12" came out before the 16" 4-cheese. Morari stepped over to let us know the 16" needed just a few minutes more in the oven. No problem since we asked for both to be well done. Morari brought the 4-cheese over and we didn't see him againuntil we flagged him down in a seperate dining room for our bill. Morari is a young man who just might need a reminder as to the value of attentive table service. I wish him well. He seems like a great young man. I cannot wait for the quality of service to catch up with world-class pizza! The cynical dinner guest will think "great pizza and you can save on tip!" I don't want to be that guest - hence the reason for this review. Fantastic food. Salads are super and in giant portions. Really neat atmosphere. Old pictures of NewYork City are all over walls. Spacious, spotlessly clean and very modern interior make for a great pizza place. Let's get the level of service up. In the meantime, I will keep coming back. Well worth the drive from North Carolina even without the beach.

We’ve been to Grimaldi’s a few times over the years. This past visit on Sunday afternoon was a disappointment. We arrived around 3pm or so. A late lunch for most. The hostess was fine and sat us promptly. The server, Michelle, came over right away and took our drink order and then asked immediately for our food order. We hadn’t even opened the menu yet. She came back with our drinks as we were reviewing the menu and introduced herself again as Michelle. She had come from the back eating something. Then, she didn’t come back for 30 minutes. When she came back and introduced herself again as Michelle and said she would check on our pizza… only we hadn’t ordered any food yet. She walked away again after having tablet issues. After five minutes, I asked someone else if they could take our order and they found her. She came over and explained the tablet issue and I asked her if she could use the point of sale machine literally 8 feet from us. She wrote our order down instead. The food was prepared quickly and it was amazing. My eight year old even loved it. Checkout was seamless. Michelle just seemed forgetful. It wasn’t busy so I’m not sure why we had so many issues getting our order in.

I have always been a fan of Grimaldi's pizza. Coming from Texas I wasn't sure what to expect. I know that this is the only one in the Charleston area. It's just as good if not it's even better. Never had Grimaldi's you need to have Grimaldi's. If you're in the Charleston area even if you're the Orangeburg area it's worth the drive if you round you will be great but what you get to the restaurant you'll be greeted by dice door greeters and a beautiful environment especially custom wine bottle lamps surround the ceiling hanging from the top. You'll be greeted by a delicious smell of ingredients as soon as you walk in. The food was delicious. But this is not just any kind of pizza this is coal brick-oven pizza if you never had this before it's an experience in itself what's makes Grimaldi's Pizzeria so Unforgettable it's so unique and special I'm give this place a hundred Stars if I could give it a shot try about the truly like it the water tastes clean and refresh

My wife, daughter and I arrived at Grimaldi's on 12/26/17 at 7:30 pm. They were busy but no one was waiting and we were seated immediately at a table in the bar area. Ordered 3 small pizza's immediately and one hour later at 8:30, as tables around us were being vacated, I tried to find the waiter, who had been working behind the bar. After I flagged him down and inquired as to the status of the food he said he would check. he came back a few minutes later and advised that it would be a few more minutes. I asked how long and he was unable to advise us. asked to see the manager who never showed up at the table. The waiter advised that the manager said he would comp the food. I was not looking for free food, but a semi accurate estimate of how much longer it would be. The waiter went back to inquire and then came back at 8:40 and advised it would be another 20 to 30 minutes. I asked to see the manager a second time and Theodore showed up at 8:45. Theodore (the manager) either did not know how to fix the problem or did not care to as that was his attitude. He tried to explain that their take out business was busy. Apparently they prioritize those customers who call in over those who are actually sitting in the restaurant. We got no satisfaction and ended up leaving having not eaten. At no time did the incompetent waiter come and check on us, nor were we offered any pleasantries such as "I am sorry and will check on your food..." If you want terrible service this is your place! Had been a long time customer but that was the last time that they will see my business. Too many other places to eat where you can be...

This place was recommend to us by a close friend. I called to ask if they do reservations, the person (female) that picked up the phone sounded like she was in a rush. She extremely fast told me that they don’t do reservations on Fridays or Saturdays (this is what I was able to understand since the person talked in a rush not too polite) I told her that it wasn’t a problem and that it was perfect because I needed to make the reservation for Monday 02/28 for 15 people and as soon as I finish saying it she told me something like "can you wait we are almost finishing lunch" or something related to lunch (the call was made at 3:04 pm on Friday 02/18/2022) she proceeds to put me on hold immediately. I waited 10 min on hold, suddenly the wait time music stopped, and I thought maybe we got disconnected.I called back and I hear that someone picked up the phone and immediately puts me on hold and less than 10 seconds on hold, they hang up on me. I tried calling 3 times more following that incident (my grandma literally asked for her birthday to take her to eat pizza) and they kept hanging up my call. I was just trying to make a reservation. Thank you so much for showing me the quality of your staff before expending my money and saving me a bad time for my grandma's 80th birthday. Guess I'll have to take her somewhere else. Never had the chance to try the food....
