Hubby had a bad sub experience last week at another place I won't name, and I really wanted a decent sandwich. I heard about this place and since they were near my work, I stopped in to give them a shot on the way home yesterday. After my fantastic experience I will definitely be dropping by again whenever I don't feel like cooking! The restaurant is cute and clean, the staff amazingly friendly, and the food is top-notch.
Kayla greeted me from behind the counter as soon as I walked in the door, and she is an absolute delight. She was so warm and friendly, I tried to poach her to come work for me LOL I had the privilege of meeting the owner, who told me next week is their anniversary celebration and they will be having daily specials and a big charity event Saturday, which sounds like a great time.
For my hubby I ordered a 12" Hot Pastrami and those famous fries with a big drink. The sandwich is exactly what you want in a hot sub. Fresh bread, crusty outside and soft inside, loaded with tender meat so perfectly sliced! Most places slice too thin or too thick and sloppy. Jon Smith's does it right! Just the right amount of toothiness. The balance of meat, cheese, and condiments was perfect, the meat so flavorful and fresh! The mustard stood out as very sharp but not overpowering.
The fries were hot, fresh, and fun floppy, not overcrisp but still a little steamy and soft. They gave me lots of ketchup too, which I appreciate.
I got myself the Cuban, and it was a decent Cuban. Plenty of pickles and really good meats. Not sure on the bread, it wasn't exactly the Cuban bread experience I remember from Florida or even Havana Cafe (RIP) but it was a nice sandwich. I want to try the ham and cheese next, but at least I know when I have a Cuban craving I can satisfy it here.
This might be my new favorite sandwich shop. They know what they're doing and they seem to enjoy doing it. That's a winning combination! I know I'll be seeing them again soon, because we...
Read moreMy husband and I decided to stop here for a late afternoon lunch while on vacation. Seemed to be a good option as they reviewed well, and Google said they weren’t too busy (about 3:00pm).
The young man helping us at the front register was very kind and helpful. He assured me that I could add anything or substitute anything on the menu or even turn any sandwich into a salad.
I ordered a classic chicken 6” sub with no cheese and added lettuce, tomato, and pickles. The young man asked if the fried onions were still okay, and I said yes.
Now first of all, I understand that everywhere in the country is having staff shortages and issues, that’s just the way things are now. I was perfectly fine hanging out out for ~30 minutes for my food. But it took 30 minutes to seriously mess up my food?! That was the disappointing part.
My sandwich had cheese on it (I’m non-dairy), there was no added lettuce nor tomato nor pickles, and there wasn’t even onions on it. Instead I received a sandwich filled with jalapeño peppers that made it too hot to even eat.
We chose this sandwich shop because we don’t have them at home and wanted to try something different. Next time, I’ll just go to my usual...
Read moreI understand we are currently under very stressful circumstances, but the sandwiches I ordered were completely wrong. I ordered 2 veggie subs, one on a wrap and one on wheat bread. Not only were all of the basics not on the sub (there was no onion, mayo, pickle or tomato), but not even all of my additions were added. I thought that maybe they could have just run out of some of the ingredients, but when I spoke to the employee over the phone there was no mention of a lack of ingredients. I wish I could say that the sandwich was good, but it was just lettuce, olives, and banana peppers between bread. It was overall very bland and completely fell apart when I tried to eat it. I gave this review two stars because I am trying to be understanding, but this place will no longer receive...
