Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon for a quick lunch. There were a few people at the bar but not overly crowded when we arrived. We were greeted and seated at a very comfortable table. Booth seating on one side and chairs on the other. The chairs were very comfortable. The menu has something for everyone so can't go wrong here. We started off with a couple of cocktails and they were both delicious. "The night we met" has vanilla vodka, raspberry liqueur, lemon and orange juice. I was afraid this would be too sweet but it was just right. We could taste the raspberry and it was just so delicious and ended up being our favorite of the two. We also had "What happened last night?" I believe this is a seasonal drink as it was on a separate menu. It was Tito's vodka with peach nectar, lemon and prosecco. It was very light and refreshing. Would have loved a little more peach flavor but overall was delicious and would get again. We had the Italian Olives appetizer that we ate so quickly we ended up not taking a photo but they were very delicious and not bitter. Our table had the Seasonal Buratta Salad, a Margarita Pizza, The Big Ragu Sandwich and The Tiramisu Waffles which were ordered off of the Brunch menu. The burrata salad with poached pears and candied walnuts was exceptional. 10 out of 10. The Margarita Pizza pizza so good!! I would have never ordered this but someone at my table did and it was so delicious. I loved that the pizza had plenty of sauce. It was very light and very good. I would definitely order again. The Big Ragu Sandwich was a surprising hit. The sandwich comes with prosciutto, burrata, pistachio butter and pickled peppers on house focaccia. It sounded a little crazy but OMG!!! It was so good. All of these flavors just work so well together. And even though you're getting that prosciutto and burrata and that focaccia bread it just didn't feel like a heavy sandwich. Again, 10 out of 10. Lastly let's talk about the Tiramisu Waffles. If you are a sweet waffles person then these are for you. They were so delicious. If you are not a sweet breakfast person I would definitely recommend ordering these as a dessert for the table.. They would easily serve four people and they're just out of this world... Our server was friendly and attentive. We didn't feel rushed but we definitely didn't feel like we were stuck in here too long.. so that we could get back to shopping. Of course if you're just looking for a nice glass of wine they definitely have that but don't let the name fool you. This is not just a wine bar. I also found the prices for lunch to be reasonable. I highly recommend putting this on your list of...
Read moreWe went to the restaurant as return customers. We were a party of 5 and had a reservation at 6. Seated and ready for us when we arrived. Ordered drinks and appetizers. Then ordered dinner when the drinks came. Apps came out in a timely manner and were good. We were respectful patrons and were enjoying the dinner until it just got really long for anyone to clear our table and get out entrees out. 2 parties of 2 sat on either side of us and got their apps and entrees and bill and finished in less then an hour. Our entrees didn’t show up until 7:45pm. And hour and forty five minutes after we were seated. Prior to that we inquired on problem and offered to just pay what we had eaten and hit the road. What would appear to be a manager came over and apologized, and our food arrived within 10-15 minutes of that. Again a hour and 44 minutes after being seated. At least a hour after apps were done at the table. Not another word, not an explanation as to what happened at any point in the dinner. And our waitress was avoiding the table At that point. Seriously, nothing from the would be manager, Lizzy! Not an offer for desert, never even discussed. Not an offer for a drink for the bad experience! Nothing. Our bill came. $67 per head with no deductions. Then when we asked, we were told we were rude! Well rude was an understatement of my frustration with literally no expression of apology that clearly something went wrong. I told the manager she was a blankety you know for not handling that better. They kicked us out of the restaurant! Today’s society, no accountability and we were treated like second class patrons! Wow! Plenty of great food in Charleston , don’t waste your time with an establishment and manager that don’t respect the patrons visiting their restaurant. As a business owner myself, this manager should be fired. I hope the owners care more about their patrons than she displayed on Saturday, May 27th. ...
Read moreWe were excited to try Savi Cucina and made a reservation for a party of seven for dinner on Saturday (day 14 post opening). Unfortunately, our experience was not positive. Instead, it was 2 - 1/2 hours, of having to flag down our waiter, for water, cocktails, wine, and actually having to ask that he check on our dinner order - more than an hour after we'd finished our salads. Once the food arrived, the veal was very overdone, the shrimp dishes (one a house specialty) had very few shrimp and gummy, not creamy pasta, the $22 ravioli was fair in taste, but very minimal in substance (more like an appetizer portion). The pizza on the other hand was excellent! We know it's difficult opening a new restaurant, and the competition in Charleston is especially tough. But the worst part of this for us, was our conversation with the owner - who, although he said he appreciated the feedback, responded that our experience was unexpected and highly unusual, although he passed our table several times as we sat with empty glasses and dirty salad plates for extended periods of time, with no progress - and the body language of 7 unhappy people is pretty hard to miss. We are locals and our group is 60+. We aren't difficult patrons, are not generally critical, and rarely write reviews because we know they can negatively impact future business, but the owner made zero effort to correct our bad experience, didn't apologize, or ask us to give them another chance, and his final words were - "Oh, it's too bad you've already paid, or maybe we could have done something like comped you a dessert or something". Sadly, you really missed the point, but more importantly, you missed an opportunity to improve and maintain some local patrons that honestly wanted to...
