I stopped into Pita Way in Mt. Pleasant for lunch and ordered a gyro, and I couldnāt be more impressed! While the setup allows you to build your own meal, similar to Subway, the similarities end there. The food is freshly cooked on-site, bursting with flavor, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality.
As someone with a background in food, I was especially impressed by their commitment to food safety. I noticed all the employees were diligent about changing gloves, using thermometers to ensure proper temperatures, cleaning surfaces frequently, and keeping everything clearly labeled and dated. Itās clear they take food safety seriously, which made me feel right at home.
The manager was also fantasticāattentive and helpful with my sesame seed allergy, making sure everything was prepared safely. The fries were delicious, with the spicy fries adding a nice kick. If you're into Mediterranean cuisine and value both great flavors and top-notch food handling, I highly recommend Pita Way. Iāll...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is a great option for a town with little variety. However this restaurant is unsanitary. The employees seem to not have been trained to change their gloves after handling the cash register or the trash can. I have seen multiple employees on several occasions go straight from the register (without changing gloves) to sticking their hands in the food. Also moving the trash can in the middle of making food. Very disappointing and disgusting. I read your reply about having food safety standards, if that is the case, then you need to make sure your employees are being held to those standards. I can very plainly see that they are not changing their gloves when they should, and the customer should not have to ask the employee to do their job the correct and sanitary way. Hopefully this changes because I would love to give the place another...

The sign clearly states up to 3 sauces with the bowl and I asked for them on the side since I wasn't sure if I'd like them, she said she would put them on the bowl for free but if I wanted them on the side she would have to charge me for them. Hard to want to douse a meal with sauce if you're not sure if you'll like it. My boyfriend asked for dark meat chicken and I asked for light meat and she mixed the 2 meats in the portioning cup. Seemed pretty expensive for what it is, 14.99 for a bowl. The fries were pretty...
