Recently, my son and I decided to check out Tony’s in Mount Pleasant SC, having heard some positive things and hoping to try something new beyond our usual pizza spots. The atmosphere at Tony’s was immediately appealing — the restaurant was clean, well-kept, and full of eye-catching car memorabilia lining the walls. It gave off a fun, nostalgic vibe that enhanced the dining experience.
We started with the garlic cheese bread appetizer, which we shared while waiting for our pizza. Although we sometimes order several appetizers, we opted for just one this time since we were anticipating a hearty main course.
We ordered a large Meat Deluxe pizza. Before I dive into taste and texture, let’s talk presentation. The pizza arrived at the table served on a round pan, but the pizza itself was rectangular — an odd mismatch that my son and I both noticed right away. What really surprised us, though, was the size. At $25, we expected a much larger and heartier pizza. Compared to our usual pizza spot on Highway 17 (which serves a thick, square Sicilian pan pizza), Tony’s version seemed to be missing a row — literally and figuratively. It just didn’t deliver the same volume.
The pizza itself tasted pretty good, and I won’t take away from that. The flavors were solid, and it wasn’t a bad meal by any stretch. But it wasn’t a deep dish or pan-style pizza as we expected, and it lacked the thickness we typically enjoy. So, in the end, while the flavor hit the mark, the portion size and presentation didn’t quite live up to the price tag — making it a bit of a letdown.
Service was solid — our server was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. No complaints there.
Final thoughts: If you’re in Mount Pleasant and curious to try Tony’s, it’s worth a visit for the ambiance and flavor. But if you’re expecting a large, thick, Sicilian-style pizza for the price, you might walk away slightly disappointed — like we did....

Recently, I picked up lunch at Toni's for my husband and I on a Friday. I had an errand to run in Mt. Pleasant and remembered Toni's from the Yelp Elite event in 2019, plus my husband tried it at a friend's house.
I ordered and paid from my phone, which was easy with the ToastTab app, and the app quoted a 25 minute wait time. My food was ready on time and my order was accurate. Ordering and picking up was the easy part, but the 30 minute drive home smelling that delicious pizza was hard!
I ordered a 4-piece veggie and small Greek salad for us to share, as well as a side of meatballs for my omnivore husband. This was more than enough food for the two of us. It was delicious with toppings in every bite and crunchy, thick crust.
A large pizza is 8 pieces, and I'm glad I went with a small. We would've had leftovers all weekend. However, I would order a large pizza to feed a family or take to a party.
Salads come in three sizes, side, small, and large. I would suggest a side salad if you're sharing a pizza and a small if you want to eat ONLY salad. Personally, I could never come here for just salad, but it was one of the better Greek salads I've had and the only one I've seen with beets. It is a new menu item and was not listed on the print menu yet.
I can't comment on the taste of the meatballs, but my husband enjoyed them. They were packaged and traveled well, as did the pizza and salad. I've never been to Detriot to know if the pizza is authentic or not- I just know I was satisfied. If have to refrigerate and reheat your pizza, I recommend reheating in an air fryer- the crust didn't get soggy or hard.
I wish Toni's was closer, because I could be a regular here, but I'll recommend it to my Mt. Pleasant friends and definitely return when I'm in the area running errands or doing...

Staff was super friendly. Took a minute to get seated. The wait for food was a little long, however; this is a pizza joint and it takes a little more time to get food than normal. For this reason, be patient and go easy on them.
For a party of 5, the price was good. The small pizza comes with 4 hearty slices of buttery, crispy thick crust; which was awesome! None of the members of my party was able to comfortably complete a small pizza by itself.
As for meaningful feedback, I was not a fan of the marinara sauce covering the top of the pizza. This overwhelmed the flavors of the added toppings, ultimately taking away the full flavor of all the ingredients. For example, I ordered a small “Super” pizza (pepperoni, ham, onion, mushroom, and green peppers). The sauce was so much that everything had that zesty and sour’ish flavor that comes with a marinara. It was hard to get the bite and flavor of each of those ingredients, so much so I couldn’t taste the pepperoni and barely got that onion and mushroom flavor one would expect. I did get the green peppers and ham flavor out of it more pronounced than the others. Please refer to the pictures added to this post.
Lastly, the staff was nice, however; I didn’t get offered a drink refill until we were done with the meal.
For the few reasons mentioned in the previous two paragraphs, this convinced me of giving a 4 Stars rating instead of 5!
Ultimately, a very good pizza joint and I would...
