Lehigh valley doesn’t have much Vietnamese restaurants and the ones around are meh.
I was in the Pocono for fun and was excited to see a high rated Vietnamese restaurant closed by so I got to try it out.
Disappointed is the bottom line
Restaurant has plenty of parking and inside was simple and clean. There was extra dining area in the back probably when large groups stop by being close by resorts and casino. I do wish they make the only driveway to entrance the parking lot wider as only one car can enter or exit making it awkward to drive in.
I was greeted and seated fast, restaurant was 1/3 full on a Sunday afternoon .
Then I noticed there was no music/BGM, so you can hear everyone talking and also the young server on her phone ranting loudly. It was not pleasant to hear.
I only ordered pho #10. It came out within 10min but the broth was so muddy and there wasn’t any aromatic smell ( star anise, clovers, etc) so I knew it wasn’t going to taste good.
I try the soup first without adding any condiments. The broth was not hot enough and the noodles were semi hard, as the broth couldn’t soften the noodle as it was not hot.
The broth was more salty and taste chalky and muddy, it seem like the cooks did not skim the broth as it cooked . I didn’t add any hoisin and just sriracha.
The meat was good though with a good amount.
LMAO to one of the reviewer who says this pho is better than California pho. Them must have low standards.
TL;DR: pho is average and they need to skim the broth. Need BGM to block annoying conversations you can help...
Read moreI came to this restaurant expecting stellar service and great food, unfortunately my experience was genuinely terrible. My friends and I were in the Poconos for labor day weekend and saw that this location came highly recommended. From the moment we walked in, we were disregarded and had to flag someone down to be seated. We placed our orders at 12:36pm and did not receive any food until an HOUR after we ordered. Multiple large groups came in after us and got their food before us as well. We asked our waitress about our food and she kept saying it would be out in a few minutes. Once we got our food, I noticed a hair on my grilled chicken and immediately went to let someone know. Our waitress kept saying it wasn’t hair and had to be something else but it was very obviously a long black hair. I spoke to the manager and he was being very rude to us, saying he did not want to comp my meal and constantly said he would be fired if he took anything off of our bill. I would have been happy with an apology for the wait and for the hair in the food, but the way we were spoken to was absolutely abhorrent. On our way out, a waiter yelled at my group saying, “PLEASE MOVE OUT OF THE WAY, I AM TRYING TO DO MY JOB,” as if we were purposefully hindering him. I do not recommend this place, especially if you’re...
Read moreI was staying at Kalahari and ordered take out. I ordered #9 and #15 pho. They looked exactly the same when I got back and opened them. One is supposed to have three meats and the other two meats. Mildly disappointing, but once I started eating, I no longer cared. This is the BEST pho I’ve ever had. I thought about moving to PA from SC over this pho. 🤯 👌🏻 😋 🤤 I also ordered spring rolls and egg rolls. Egg rolls were good. Nice spice and flavor. The shrimp and pork spring rolls were a bit bland and could have benefited from some Thai basil or something. Now back to the pho. The broth was hot and cooked the raw meat perfectly. The broth had incredible depth and flavor. I used the sauce they sent for the pho to dip some of my meat in because I don’t like to sully an incredible pho with sauces. The sauces were excellent with the meat. I’m sitting here in SC wondering how long I will have to wait to eat here again. I can’t wait to eat here again. I didn’t even get any good pictures because I had devoured everything before I remembered to take a picture. I recommend either pho since they were identical. The taste of the pho deserves...
