Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Mount Vernon

First of all I’m not one to complain but this is the 3rd time in the last few months and 2 of those visits were in the last week. Tonight my fiancé, myself and 3 of our 7 kids went to eat, we had a 10 minute wait which no big deal, our waitress came over sat down in the empty seat at our table and took our drink order she promptly brought them back but forgot our daughters lemon in her tea, we reminded her so she went back to get it came back holding the lemon in her bare hands stopping at the table beside us then comes to our table hands her the lemon that she’s holding with her fingers...yuck!!! She sat down at the table again takes our order for appetizers and we got the 3 for $13.00 we got one right away and waited almost 20 minutes for the other 2. As we have been sitting there for 45 minutes waiting for our salads/meals and still hadn’t received our side salads nor have we seen our meal. She finally comes over and informed us that she put our order in but forgot to hit send....our salads came out very soon and we waited and finally brought out our meals my fiancé’s steak was over cooked and mine was burnt...she said she would have them recook them but at this point it’s 10:30pm on a Friday night we were all tired and hot and had already been sitting there for 2 hours I was so frustrated at that point I didn’t want anything just wanted to leave. Autumn was our waitress and she informed the assistant manager they both came over to our table and said we could have dessert for all the trouble. I declined the desserts so was told they’d adjust the bill they took off the steak dinners and 20% off the rest. We normally pay $70 for us to eat there and our bill was still almost $60 I’m not sure what happened there but was too tired to try and figure it up. They really need to work on their staff....this is usually my favorite place to eat but...

We visited this franchise Saturday, March 23rd, we had received a gift card for Christmas and decided to cash it in. We hadn’t been back here in years, since our last unpleasant visit. It was supposed to be an enjoyable date night for me and my husband. Upon arrival, they were busy, to be excepted for Saturday evening, but we were sat quickly. We arrived around 6. Our waiter came by and took our drink and appetizer order, I asked for a recommendation on the Bacardi Rum Buckets and our waitress informed us that she was not over the age of 21, so she did not have a personal preference, but that the most popular was the Tropical Mama, so I ordered that as well as a glass of water, along with my husband. We waited 30 minutes to receive our drinks, and placed the rest of our order. Our server apologized saying she forgot and that it was her 3rd night and she was now by herself, inexcusable by management which was no where to be found. We then waited another 30 minutes, and at this point ready to leave, to receive our appetizer. Our waitress quickly dismissed herself before we could ask for refills or a status of our entrees. We then waited an HOUR to receive our entrees, we were fuming at this point because our waitress was nowhere to be found and we just wanted to go boxes, and our check. My husbands meal, the Prime Rib dipper, looked like it had been through a tornado and the so-called Ajou was grey and looked sickening. We finally got our to go boxes and our check, $70 and 30 minutes later, to leave the establishment around 9pm.

This location has been horrible for awhile and has proved itself to not have changed in years, but as long as the owners are making money, I doubt anything will be changed ever.

Go spend your money somewhere...

I took my family of 6 out for dinner to this restaurant. 25mins of waiting and finally got asked what drinks we would like. I had to ask the bartender for refills for drinks. We ordered our food and drinks at 6:15pm. By 6:45pm their food came out. Half the food had been cooked in old grease and looked terrible. Half their food was cold. My husband was "waiting" on fries. I didn't receive my food and was not told when it would be out. By 7pm my family was almost done with their meals. The waitress brings out my food and husband's fries. I explained that I didn't want the meal because my family was done eating. Another waitress Candy was standing near and started to get rude in the conversation. Candy stated that they were short staffed and it wasn't the girls fault. I explained I understand that it isn't her fault but I don't want to pay for food I didn't get to eat with my family. Candy then started getting very rude and argumentative. She walked away and got over by different customers and turned around stating " I know you weren't talking to me". I then said " yes, yes I was. You shouldn't be so rude". Candy then advanced towards me in an aggressive manner. I being the person I am was in full mama bear protective mode. I was waiting for her to step up to me as I was still sitting with my family. The manager came I explained the food and I just wanted my meal off my bill. I would NOT recommend this restaurant. This use to be our go to place. It is sad! Also the manager himself said they were not short staffed just had new people. I will definitely be in contact with corporate office because Candy needs to be educated on how to deal with customers. Even though it was a horrible experience I still...
