When you pull up to a donut shop at 8am on a Saturday you know fresh donuts await you however you have no idea just how fresh until that first pillowy, sweet like love sensation hits your lips... Wow! THE BEST DONUT EVER! We love teensy, family run donut shops and make a point to seek them out wherever we go.
I had a feeling we would find one; call it a gift of middle aged womanhood or years of growing up in the Midwest. I do possess an internal gift, a dowsing stick of sorts that senses 2 types of culinary delights. Itâs either-you best eat it now fried foods, what some consider low-brow food or 5-star, farm fresh ingredients, french influenced fare. Itâs very strange.
Anyway, I popped into the donut shop & got 6 donuts. The hubs loves maple bars so I was sure to get him one and I love that day-glo pink fake strawberry flavored icing with sprinkles or rainbow jimmies with a childlike fervor. I got myself a fancy pretty pink fluffy cruller style donut along with 2 iced old fashionedâs, 1 cinnamon encrusted buddy & a Boston cream.
How good were they??? I only got one whole donut and 3 bites of a couple others. They were so good that when I got back in the car, handed the box to my husband before I could even buckle my seat belt. The box was open and the maple bar was gone! I immediately said âOh no honey I thought I got you a maple bar!â He smiled and said âUhh you did, I already ate it!â
If you need a sugary treat-this us the spot! Soooo good with a nice cup of coffee!
*no pictures as we ate all the...
Read moreThis is the donut shop you remember going to when you were a child. The nostalgia of the neighborhood donut shop is strong with this one. The donuts smell amazing as soon as you walk in. They got your classics and they have some new ones that sport some modern twists. But you don't go to a donut shop like this for a culinary adventure, no, you come here for the familiarity and reliability of what you know, love, and expect. You want a maple bar they got it, an apple fritter got that too, and for my own level of nostalgia they had my favorite. The pillowy soft and light tasting French crueler. Don't sleep on this donut shop. It's not trying to be something other than what it is. A reliable neighborhood donut shop supplying sweet treats for you and your family on Saturday morning, supplying the office with a couple dozen donuts cause you showed up late, or using them to bribe the guys on the job site to work...
Read moreI have taken the kids here several times for breakfast and my only complaint up to that point was that the tables and trash box could have been cleaner. However on our most recent visit I purchased a bottled orange juice with my donut. The orange juice did not taste good something was off. Maybe lack of refrigeration for some time? Not spoiled just not good and not expired. I only drank about 1/3 of the small bottle. When I complained, there was Zero effort to satisfy me-the customer. I would expect either a refund offer or something else to drink. She just said sorry, not expired, we buy from store, not our problem. I did not feel like arguing so I just didn't finish the OJ. I will be looking for another donut shop in the area. Too bad you lost a customer over $2. Shame. The donuts are ok tho. Better than Safeway, not as...
