It all began when a growling and pain came from within. The trigger was set, I thought to myself, what could possibly satisfy this unwavering beast who relentlessly taunts me every 5 hours of every day? Only one place in all of Mt Vernon Shire came to mind. I left work, salivating for the goodness of what is known as the Taco Time Restaurant. Little did I know, as I left in haste, I had left behind on my desk the only weapon I had to battle this beast of hunger....My wallet, which lay on my desk calm and unaware, I was heading into battle defenseless. Fast forward in time, I am reaching for my precious while approaching the window, when I realize the peril of the situation. My last chance is hope for the apple pay, but at last no dice. The look on Jeri’s and Codi’s faces, one of empathy listened as I sadly told them “sorry I have no way to pay” and started to pull away. Jeri and Cody looked at each other, then after looking back at me Codi says, "we will cover it for you." Was it my sad puppy-like face? The look of total despair? Did they totally understand, I had driven all this way, waiting in line as dopamine ran through my body as I wait in expectation for my Baja tacos, crispy beef burrito, and mexi-fries? Did they imagine how the shock and sudden deep sadness hit me, when realizing I would only return to work hungry, hopeless, empty-handed and utterly shattered? Seeing how desperate I was to give my hard earned cash by any means to pay for that crispy goodness and freshness that screams out into the night only from the place called Taco Time. It is not the name of a business that makes it great, it is the people behind it. Thanks for using people who understand, care and know people. I will never forget the kindness Codi and Jeri showed me on what became this very...
Read moreWent to this place today to get food and was frustrating by their deceptive advertising. I ordered a soft burrito meal combo on their menu and the price was displayed on the drive-through menu between $13 and $14. (For context I did drive-through to get my food) When I was done with my order the woman who took it told me it would cost me $23!!! I said no, your sign for the drive-through option says the meal is $13ish. After making it clear I was not paying $23 for a meal combo she explained to me that they put two burritos in one combo. Their sign isn't up-to-date on this new combo price/"deal" Taco Time has (if you'd call it a deal). I came to this place so much as a kid and Im very disappointed with how things turned out. Because of shrinkflation their burritos are a lot smaller now than they used to be and the woman taking my order didnt even sound enthusiastic or tell me to have a great day. I've gone to many places both cheap and expensive and the people who take orders are always friendly and say "thank you" and "have a great day" at both fast food places and nicer restaurants, but not the people that work at this place. I also ordered chili on the side and it was more soup-like than chili-like and had way more watery liquid than chicken and beans. Its such a shame because I have so many fond memories of coming to this place as a kid with my family members and days where my parents would order food and bring it home or to sports practices, but this place has sadly gone down-hill and its not the Taco Time I knew and loved as a child. I'm very...
Read moreI ate here yesterday the 11th of December. It has been years since I ate here. I was at JoAnnes Fabrics and decided to treat myself. Walked in to find the only way to order is self service. I had questions but no one to ask. I ordered, the food was brought out to me. No conversation, no smile, no nothing human. I opened my Baja tacos to find the tortilla laminated to the paper wrapper. So I decided to eat just the insides of the taco with my cup of corn chowder....only to find that NOTHING was remotely hot or warm and chowder had split, so there were small pieces of the fat from the base liquid all floating around ....and stone COLD. The only edible item was the fries (over salted) so I brought them home and made an omelette with them. One taco was beef and the other was chicken. The chicken had no flavor....just boiled chicken. I tried to get someone's attention regarding the meal, but no one would look up from their duties. I spent 16+ dollars to throw in the...
