This was our third or fourth visit. I think I'm just going to keep calling my reviews on top of another in this review box, lol. I want to give these guys credit, but I also don't want the secret to get out of her how much we like this place 😅🙈 Everything is always good and we have never had to wait for a long time for food.
It's somewhat out of the ordinary to be able to consistently go and get good Mexican soups. Often if a restaurant offers them they have ran out but we can always go here in my husband can get soups, like menudo.
This time I tried mole chicken enchiladas. I don't even know if it was on the menu I just asked the guy if they had no light and he said yes and I asked him if they could put it on enchiladas and he said yes. It tasted all right everything was hot and cooked just right, but the sauce flavor was not what I would call traditional mole... Honestly if I didn't order Molly I wouldn't even have known I was supposedly eating mole. Much sweeter and I couldn't detect any spice of chocolate...just mild, sweet sauce with a little sesame flavor. That said I know there are a lot of different mole recipes in Mexico... I'm personally not familiar with what region this would have been from. How much prefer the standard darker mole with a little spice and chocolate.
However it was edible and I was hungry so I just ate it. Rice and beans are good. The chips & salsa are still good! Everybody else got exactly what they wanted! We will definitely be back!
Tried this place twice in the last month or so and it's been consistent. They have a ridiculous amount of hard working staff, and it carries over into the experience. I feel like this place is a gem harkening back to the precovid days 😂🤩🤷 I only ordered tamale (beef is their only option) with rice and beans. Tried with sauce then skipped the sauce the next time and spread a little of the table salsa on it😂🙌 My husband loves the menudo!! He's Mexican and it's good. quality for a restaurant. He also gets a tamale. Dessert was good. We had the flan last time. Churros this time. They have custard inside. They were good but the fun was...
Read moreNot a local. I was in the area for a training at the Fluke Corporation and my hotel was right across from the restaurant. I come from south texas, so I've grown up with that style of Mexican-Tex Mex cuisine. After reading reviews I decided to take a shot.
Off the bat I was greeted by one of the waiters ( I belive his name was Ruben) and and allowed me to pick my own table. Quickly, I was brought a water, chips and salsa, and the menu. That right there is good service, places here in Texas, you sometimes have to keep asking for chips, or the drink is delayed.
I asked for a recommendation. Tacos al Carbon. These are 3 tacos(flour tortillas) filled with carne asada, cooked in a sauce. Wow! I couldn't really lift to bite them, so I used a fork to tear them apart and eat them like that (who eats a taco with a fork?) Asada meat can be a hit or miss, as in the tenderness. You can overcook it to where it's chewy, under cook it, or burn it. No these were soft, tender. I was surprised. The bean and rice tasted fresh. The plate was a good serving. I left satisfied.
I went again two days later and order Pollo en Mole (peanut sauce), and my God it was tasty, not many restaurants serve this so I knew I had to try it.
Overall I like this place. If I could bring it with me and replace one of my local Mexican Restaurants with it, I would.
The staff is great and welcoming. The local people are friendly, it's just such a nice place.
Keep up...
Read morePlease tell the kitchen thank you for me. The standards for food here are so incredibly high. It seems they are shooting for the moon for they seem to always land in the stars. I’ve never, ever had a bad meal come out of this pristine kitchen. That experience is un-heard of.
As a diamond in the rough, y’all EARNED our Mayor John’s devotion as a regular. I truly see the reason why he keeps coming back. Thank you so much!!!!!
My only regret, is that I didn’t take a photo of every single meal! I believe every master piece needs to be remembered! As a blissful experience, this deserves to be shared time and time again.
I found my favorite dish! It’s the Dungeness crab enchiladas. I’ve started to order it as a burrito and savor the layers of flavors. I recommend you try it as a enchilada first. This way you can choose to mix and match your bites of cheesy, savory herb and crab enchiladas with the on plate sides of rice and beans. It’s a must try in every form!! I’m amazed that this one dish has captivated my palate, and given me a new level of cravings for great food!!
My deepest thanks, from the bottom of my very full stomach!! I’ll see...
