Really appalled at the poor service we just received. Allow me to preface with a few things:
I am a general manager of a restaurant within a Hilton hotel. I have been in a service oriented position since I was 16, and nothing has ever made my blood boil the way this interaction did. Our original server was kind and polite, but burst into tears over something at another table and never came to take our order so she was replaced by another woman who was not nearly as friendly. I read poor reviews of restaurants as I would of reviews of my own restaurant and can tell when someone is just mad they didn’t get free stuff. This isn’t it. This is real disappointment in the poor service in a local establishment that could have been an awesome spot for the community I’ve lived in for 16 years. I really just want the owner to see this and know how things played out and why I’m not returning and why I’m going out of the way to let them know by leaving a review.
The second server brought egg rolls to our table without us ordering them, so we believed they were included with the lunch. When my friend ordered her food, she asked for the salad. She was informed that since she ate the egg roll the server brought with no explanation, that she would be charged additionally for a salad, as it was one or the other with the lunch. That’s fine, of course! Just wish we had known.
Then, after the salad was brought to the table, my friend gave it a couple bites and said something was seriously wrong with the dressing. She asked the server to just take it, and remove it from the bill instead of replacing it. The woman muttered something, and booked it to the kitchen, leaving the salad on the table. I was confused at this point, not sure if she had misunderstood. She returned to the table, and informed us that an unnamed person in the kitchen said she wouldn’t remove it from the check with the simple explanation “because you ordered it.” We tried to reiterate that it did not taste right, that something was not good about it. She said she couldn’t take it off, and asked if we’d like to speak to the person who made the call. I requested to speak with her, and the server left and returned and said the woman said she was busy and wouldn’t speak with us. (There were three people other than the two of us dining in the restaurant.)
The woman did actually come out a couple minutes later and yelled to us from just outside the kitchen door that she would remove it this time since we “don’t know what ginger dressing tastes like, but never again.” I looked at her in shock, and she walked away as I was formulating the thought that the salad itself was just not worthy of service if the standards of the establishment were anywhere near where I imagined. She was angry at the suggestion that something could have been wrong with the food, and left without listening to us. She did not apologize. She was not empathetic. She made us feel badly for not liking the poor product she put on our table. She spoke to us like we were stupid and not worth a satisfying experience.
After this, our server never returned to our table, even to drop off the check. My food also came out 10 minutes after my friend's entree.
Unacceptable way to handle something like that. Had it just been a gross salad, whatever. We would have come back. Had it just been the rude server and long wait for our order to be taken and long wait for the food, whatever! We understand, we’re pretty tolerant. But the way that woman treated us is the reason I will never return. She is a disgrace to any reasonable establishment’s morals, and a poor excuse for a leader in a hospitality setting. I really liked my pho. I’m sorry I can’t come back or recommend Ginger. Best of luck with building a genuine service team to go along with the...
Read moreI enjoy this area, we so many options. Today was a good day for Thai. Tell me what day isn't. Parking was super easy. If you are ready this you may have Google mapped it. It's a great, easy to find location.
When I do Thai I always look for the elusive perfect spring roll/fresh roll/summer roll. These were excellent. The peanut sauce was a twist, much in this variety are almost a sweet peanut butter. Here it was a little different. Much like you would expect but it had a detectable amount of something like soy sauce. The sweet chili sauce was pretty good as well.
Service was top notch, no want for anything there, I did delay ordering the ad himmapan, (I think that is proper spelling) to get it to the table after the fresh rolls. You can see from the video, Ginger Thai Bistro provided generous portions and beautiful presentation. Cashews and water chestnuts make the dish!
I ordered a 2 spice level. Probably should have gone 3 and usually do but there it's 1 to 4. It's a personal thing, you do you. It really was gorgeous, and may be very traditional in the recipe but I think it's most common to use soy sauce or light soy with a pinch of added salt. As delicious as it was, I suspect it's not a low sodium dish. So if you are on restrictions, you might ask for some suggestions for items.
I'm definitely going back. And I recommend you give them a try. The young men working the service side were...
Read moreThe first time my family and I dined here it was okay. The flavors of the dishes were good, but I ordered my entrée with no spice and it came out spicy enough that I could hardly eat any of it. I went back today and decided to order the duck soy sauce since I knew I didn't like the pad thai. The duck came out in pieces that looked like they'd been separated by a jack hammer. It did not look appealing but I decided to give it a try. There was hardly any meat on any of the bones and what was there was mostly fat. It was bland and greasy. My boyfriend ordered his entrée Native Thai spicy, but it came out extremely bland and the meat tasted old. When our waitress came back to check on us, we told her neither of us enjoyed our entrées. She apologized and went back to speak with someone in the kitchen. When she came back out, she asked if there was anything she could do to make it taste better as there was nothing else she could do since we'd already touched it. She told us she'd go get our checks and grab us boxes. I said I didn't want a box. When she came back she asked if we were sure we didn't want boxes. Obviously we didn't, or we wouldn't have complained about our food. Overall, we ended up paying $42 for two meals we didn't touch, when we should've gotten at least some sort of discount. The Thai iced tea and beef jerky appetizer are the only reasons this is a 2 star and not a 1...
