COCKROACHES...It all started on Saturday afternoon when two unsuspected victims decided to be adventurous and get some of that delicious taiwanese food everyone is talking about and Yelp has so many great reviews on. We ordered carry out and went to pick it up, the place was dingy and clutterred, first thing that stood out that instead of a plastic bag our food was placed in cardboard box (the one you would buy produce in). But this review is not about interior design or their carry out packaging. This is about bugs... When we got home we decided to unpack everything quickly so we could start enjoying our exotic feast. At this point we got attacked by a cockroach, not tiny baby one but the big oldtimer. As we started looking for a paper towel to kill it with it tried to escape with his friend, that all this time was hiding under a box of potstickers. Anyway, we got them before they could make our appartment their new home and start having babies. As we were throwing everything out we found a third one smooshed by a box with pad thai. The Tea Rose did us a favor here, we did leave them a tip after all. Of course, first thing we did after fighting for our living space with couple of cockroaches we called the place and asked for a refund, we talked to the manager and needless to say, she didn't want us to come in to get our money back. The saddest thing here is that they WERE AWERE OF THIS ISSUE. Yes, they know that their restaurant is infested with bugs and they still choose to serve people here. This place has so many good reviews, cult following, if you will, proclaimed to be the best Thai restaurant in Utah and the owner still doesn't have the integrity to close the doors for a week and fume the joint. She chooses to put her customer's health at risk, digusting... I really hope that you read this review and avoid this place at all cost, unless you don't mind some special protein garnish on your...
Read moreOutstanding Thai food. And like some other reviewers have noted their heat scale is not like the average restaurant (a.k.a. weak). This place has decided to stay true to its heritage and not succumb to the "norm".
I got the Green Curry at heat level 2. It was very hot. By the time I had finished it off as leftovers, my heat tolerance had gone up significantly and only over the course of a couple days.
Next time I go I want to prepare and then challenge myself to heat level 3. I can't imagine their level 10 and hats off to anyone who has ate more than a couple bites of anything near their heat level 10.
For the average person you might want to stick with level 1 and supplement some heat as needed with their very tasty sauce they have on the table that is a level 2.
The Pad Thai was some of the better Pad Thai that I have had over the years.
Be forewarned, their heat scale is not a linear thing, it is more exponential. The difference between heat level 1 and 2 is huge.
Highly recommended for very good Thai food and even more-so if you often are disappointed with how not hot "hot" food is at a lot of other establishments.
Also, the waitress was VERY nice and extremely helpful. She helped prevent me from ordering something I probably wouldn't have been able to eat. It was very much appreciated. The food was very flavorful and I wouldn't have been able to enjoy that aspect of it if it was too...
Read moreI am always reluctant to try new places and be disappointed, usually I stick to what I know and sadly my fave Thai restaurant closed permanently. Reluctantly, I try Tea Rose for the first time yesterday as it was nearby where i live. Before entering I am captivated by the smell of the food, upon entering I see a cosy space with optimal lighting and the warmth of eating in a home after a long cold day. I tell the women who rang up my order this is my first try at their pad thai and mango sticky rice (i know i'm basic, but again i love what i love, also if you can't get this one right then it is not the place for thai) She tells me it's the best in the county or region. I nod and still reluctant but more convinced after stepping into the restaurant. I take my take out order home and open to see the most juicy, aromatic, beautifully crafted pad THAI.
Begin to eat my first bite, and just felt the delicious noodles with such warmth and delight, it is indescribable how delicious these juicy, pepper and nutty blended noodles were. Perfect level of spice for me! I prefer spicy foods. I never felt such happiness, pleasure and warmth eating Thai food ever. Safe to say, that women was not lying and I am only sad to not have discovered this gem of place sooner and surprised in Utah of all places. Truly exquisite food, I will be going here forever to try the rest of their menu. Please do yourself a favor and...
