Love this park. Been coming here for years. Murray City is good about maintaining their properties. Learned how to swim here. Went on some good first dates here. Great place with lots of lawns, trails, two swimming pools and a gazebo. The tall pines in the back are beautiful. The little hill shaped water bridge across the stream by the new outdoor pool is awesome. Murray always keeps their parks modern with a touch of heritage. The war memorial is a nice touch that I wish more parks had. It’s always nice to see a salute to our service members past & present.
The Native American wood carving at the entrance is exquisite. My Uncle kept coming trying to apprentice with the artist. He ended up making some hand sized replicas of it. From my Uncle’s other artworks I think it’s a possibility he might’ve provided the artist some direction & the artist some to my Uncle. It’s wonderful how art & artists do that for one another.
The park is always clean. Has a modern & updated amphitheater, pavilions and restrooms. The restrooms have hot water and soap and are almost always clean. Wish other parks were this exemplary.
Wish they would update the basketball courts the asphalt is too uneven for me to play on. Also as a walker wish they would add a separate lane for bikes & scooters. Bikes & these electric scooters come zipping past & us taking a walk have to dart out of the way. The park really needs some kind of refreshments like a food stand or vending machines.
Miss the horse stables. Used to come here to ride my relatives horses that were stabled here. The in park fast food restaurant had good fries & sodas. Wish they were still around. The playground airplane, monkey bars & geometric dome monkey bars were all awesome. Wish they would restore the little original outdoor pool behind the playground (for those of us that don’t like crowds like the other pools seem to attract). Wish could tube the river like elderly talk about...
Read moreNeeds an update. The playground had huge, like an inch and a half long, beetles crawling all over the place. They were EVERYWHERE. It was hard not to step on them. We finally left and thought we'd go on a walk around the arboretum. No beetles there, but it was kind of run down and dirty. The trees needed a good prune to get rid of lot's of dead branches. The water feature around the paths was kind of run down. It might have been nice, but it wasn't working. There was a pond over to one side, but it was gross and green with tons of wasps all over the place. There was a gardening building - I think - that looked like it was about to fall over and was a real eyesore. The nearby rec center is nice and they have a gazebo and bridge near the river that looked new, so maybe they're trying to update things slowly. I don't think I'll be stopping here with my toddler...
Read moreI love this park because it has an amazing variety of things to do here. The playgrounds are not perfectly sanitary but that is to be expected with a park. Their is a little spot if you follow the main trail that has sucks and geese. Make sure you try sledding down the giant hills in the winter. We always have so much fun here. Please remember that the water in the river is faster than it looks but it also has blue algae in it and that is poisonous. Also this.is a public park so even the homeless are alowed, keep an eye on your kids. Their are amazing places for family photos. They have huge trees and benches that were planted their for that reason. A very large pavilion can be reserved for particles and such, and the rec center is just across the parking lot. The out door pool is very large. As are the base ball and foot ball fields across from the...
