Food here always tastes excellent, the service however is not up to par at all. STEPH who was in the line to make sandwiches is very rude, unfriendly, condescending, and unhelpful.
We asked her for a made to order sandwich, she stated in a rude and snotty tone that they “don’t do custom sandwiches”, we told her that we understand that but there’s several ingredients that is not wanted on their turkey avocado club sandwich.
So she said to tell her what was wanted on the sandwich and they would “see if they can do that” we told them the turkey avocado club with NO BACON, NO CHEESE, and NO AVOCADO, just want a sandwich with turkey. lettuce, tomato, and onions. She then says that they’ll add onions on it for free this time but next time we’ll be charged to add onions on it because they “don’t do custom sandwiches” which she said for the 5th time in her rude and snotty tone of voice with the miserable look on her face. We asked why we would be charged for adding onions when we had them remove 3 items from the sandwich, they just saved themselves ingredients and money by having them not put bacon, avocado or cheese, the sandwich already has turkey, lettuce, and tomato on it so to add onion costs $1.00 extra ? That’s beyond ridiculous.
And the employee was rude as hell throughout the whole process of trying to order the sandwich. She definitely made it known that she was not friendly, she acted as if we put her out by asking anything, and she had a miserable look and attitude as if she doesn’t want to be there or help customers. We said never mind on the sandwich and she said in the snottiest most condescending tone “you have a good day”.
This was the worst experience I have ever had at a Cafe Zupas and it makes me not want to return to that location or any location at all. If her goal was to make a customer feel unwelcome and as if it’s a crime to order a sandwich how we wanted it or we’d be penalized for it, she succeeded. Terrible.
I am a customer service representative myself and we are a company who follows 100% customer satisfaction and will do anything to help a customer and exceed their expectations, Zupas could use a lesson on that. Like it really breaks your bank to add a veggie when we asked for 3 other ingredients to be removed. I will make sure to let my family and friends know to not visit...
Read moreThis review is location specific. Zupas has wonderful food, although they would have earned another star If they hadn't discontinued my wife's favorite salad. This review goes to ease of access. My wife is temporarily in a wheelchair following foot surgery. Although this location has easily 300 to 400 parking spaces available to its customers, only two of those spaces are marked for disabled customers. After seeing that both of those spaces were full, we drove around a couple of times trying to find a standard space that would work. I finally nosed into an available standard space, stopping a few feet out to roll my wife down the ramp of the disability van and around to the ramp of the sidewalk where she waited for me while I finished parking the van. The door into the restaurant is also unfriendly to wheelchair customers, but friendly folks on their way in or out of the restaurant were happy to hold the door for us. Once inside, I had to move stanchions to be able to get my wife's wheelchair through the line. When we made it up to the cash register, I saw an employee with a name plate that said Hospitality Manager. Must be the right person to share my story with... No. Although she was initially very congenial, she was not hospitable. Her resolution to my complaint was, "We don't own the property, we just rent here, so we can't do anything about it." She was not willing to get the owners contact information for me (I asked), no offer of a manager's card with whom I can follow up. Just a less than authentic "I'm sorry I can't help you with that," and on to the next paying customer. The crux of the problem is, it looks like they converted two of their four handicap spaces into Online Order Pickup spaces. An easy solution would be to make those two spaces multi-purpose, for both pickup customers and disabled ones. A better solution would be to convert three of their adjacent spaces into two handicap spaces. I can't imagine stopping here again...
Read moreThis is the worst Zupas in town. They have messed up 4/4 of orders, always missing or incorrect ingredients. My last order was a Harvest Quinoa bowl, and they didn't put any quinoa, radishes, tomatoes, or beets on it! It was only avocado, some bits of tofu, and arugula. I finally complained by calling the store. I said, "Hey my order is missing several ingredients and I'm pretty bummed". The manager offered to refund me immediately. It's been over a month and no refund has hit my account or my Zupas app. I submitted a feedback/complaint on their website, and no response.
Honestly, I'm not even sure why I bother with any Zupas. They openly discriminated against a few of my clients with disabilities who were a great fit for the job, changing their mind when we came back for a second interview. They stated they needed lunch coverage. Conveniently, that was the only time my client could cover. We came back and they told us nevermind, can't do it due to scheduling (huh?). I reported the Zupas manager to HR and never heard back.
There are better places out there that offer better prices, rewards, and consistency. Don't bother with Zupas.
